The problem with this is that Sony doesnt have alot of franchises to pull memorable characters from. From your list, only Kratos is a Sony property. This game would most likely never happen bc it would cost way too much to get the liscense for all those other characters from their respective publishers

True. They could do Sony Versus SNK.

They then could have...

1) All the Sony characters everyone has mentioned and a load of the popular SNK ones.

2)They could have SNK help come up with the fighting engine. I mean they have a lot of beat-em up experience.

They have FF games, Tekken games, crash games and spyro games. Oh, and splinter cell.
EDIT: And assassins creed, and Spider-Man and X-Men and Hulk and also PoP characters could be used.
