According to an interview with D.J Caruso on the web-site that shall not be named (in which he also talks about a Preacher movie) the studio is talking about doing a sequel to I Am Number Four which would be based on the sequel book The Power Of Six and focus more on Teresa Palmer's Number 6.

Now I only read the first book, and they made a few unnecessary changed for the movie which could effect the 2nd movie in some ways. For example, Number 6's powers in the book werent the same as the movie, in the book she can control elements, and its Number Four who is fire proof. I havent read the 2nd book so dont know how much it would effect the storyline but would you guys like to see this sequel?

Same here, but when I heard nothing about it I just forgot about it until I saw this interview, the international numbers are what got them talking supposedly.

I need this sequel in my life now. I watched this movie for the first time last night and I dont know why I have never seen it. Now I have to find the books

I think this movie is just like Avatar: The Last Airbender. Their respective studios wanted a long-running series a la Harry Potter, with multiple books waiting in the wings. But the box office return and critical disappointment of the first movie torpedoed the sequels and squandered any possibilities of further development of the series. I Am Number Four even changed the story to make it harder for any sequel to continue where it left off, so I don't see The Power of Six ever being made.

I Am Number Four had so much potential. Then s***ty direction reared it's ugly head.

Don't remember much about the first movie. Just that it crossed into the its so bad its good territory at times.

If it was closer to the book the movie would have been much better, but I dont think they had the budget for a lot of things in there.

Some changes they made didnt make sense though, John Smith was the one who was fire proof in the books, yet they gave number 6 that power for some reason?

These books are flat out outstanding and the movie just flat out ruined them.

totally agree on what hush said. i've read all of them but two so far and so much potential wasted

^I've never got beyond the 1st one but I loved that, was a great book, will get around to the others some day but I am reading The Dark Tower series at the moment which will probably take a long time yet.

When they didn't have Henri show John the chest from Lorien explaining johns past and such along with Sam having the total wrong look and no glasses I just checked out on the film.

Hollywood has ruined this book series and the Percy Jackson novels.

I don't know how good the book is as I never read it but this movie was the definition of lame and uninspired. You can pretty much sum up what's wrong with it in the first five minutes when out protagonist tells his elaborate alien backstory THROUGH VOICEOVER.

i dont even know if i've seen it all the way through yet. if i have, it surely wasn't memorable enough to remember

fwiw i totally preferred palmer at Six over pettyfer as John any day

I think Pettyfer is a lousy actor and boring screen presence. I remember thinking, "why the hell isn't the movie starring Palmer and her character?

To be fair I found the entire film subpar. It's not awful, just complete ABC Family movie with a bigger budget.

Yeah watching it all I could think was "this could almost be good if it had more of the Alien stuff and less of all this teenaged bullsh*."

Yeah, they left out too many important stuff like what you mention, and he flashbacks to the last days of Lorien.

Yeah watching it all I could think was "this could almost be good if it had more of the Alien stuff and less of all this teenaged bullsh*."

The book had a good mixture of both, seems they just focused on the teen stuff more in the movie.

agreed. it wasnt balanced as well in the movie as in the book at all

i agree. i don't think he has the acting chops and although he is fairly good looking, even his looks can't headline a movie, especially when he's lacking so much in the talent department. i saw a preview for a movie of his coming out, i think it was called Endless Love? didn't draw me in in the slightest

As an actor (not as a person because I don't know him) I have an irrational hatred for Pettyfer. As I've said before, looks wise the man does nothing for me but I acknowledge that people do find him to be attractive and objectively I suppose he is attractive but on screen he comes off as a *****ey, unlikable block of wood. A block of wood whom acquires roles soley based on his looks.

I am waiting to like one of his performances. I've changed my mind on actors before so it's not impossible that I could change my mind.

To get back on topic: I do not see an I am Number Four sequel happening. The film was such a middle of the road performer and it didn't do well with critics either. I think it would be like Percy Jackson 2 and do worse than the original and doing worse than the original isn't a problem if your first movie was a huge smash but I Am Number Four wasn't. I think it could have been a decent little movie and franchise if they had turned the Twilight down...and cast a different lead.

Flip alien stuff with mythology and this property with vampire diaries and you have my mental qualms every thursday.

you don't like the vampire diaries?

i recently finished season 2 on netflix but i like it so far. it's a bit overly dramatic in romance at times, but i like the mythos of it all and the different time periods

Like I said, less poorly written teen romance(whedon does that stuff so much better), and more cool mythology and history.
I enjoy it for the most part.

I think number four would have been better cast had they gone for one "Sam Claflin" in the lead.

Anyone who liked this movie should just watch Roswell as this was Roswell the movie.

i actually watched roswell lol and i read the books but i cant remember if i read them before or during the show.

roswell might've actually been my first fandom (x-men doesn't count, i've had that since birth practically)

i hope The Power Of Six will come i think the first movie was awsome but i have not read the books so maybe that's why i like it :woot:
