Great teaser. Hope the story is done well as it's much bigger in scope. Part of what made the first work was the simple yet well done story that was enough to support the action. Looks like the action won't disappoint.

Saw this fan made/Evil Dead poster today...

Pretty cool. Has there been a release date announced yet other than 2014? And looks like Rama's brother isn't in this one unless I missed him.

That teaser was awesome. I've probably watched it 12 times so far, trying to catch everything in there. I wonder why Rama is in a prison cell. Did he go there undercover? Has he been framed? Was he sent there because he took the law into his own hands?

Really, REALLY can't wait for this movie.

The Raid 2" picks up right where the first film left off and follows Rama (Iko Uwais) as he goes undercover and infiltrates the ranks of a ruthless Jakarta crime syndicate in order to protect his family and uncover the corruption in his own police force.

Actually he is. Actor Donny Alamsyah, who played Rama 's brother in the first film is listed in the billing credits at the end of the The Raid 2 trailer.

Looks good. Really like some of the visual choices.

The director, Evans tweeted that its gonna be March 20-something. Probably the exact same release date as the first one.

I like the idea of
a deaf assassin. Was there any deaf assassin character appeared before in other action movies?

So the sibling assassins had abusive parents, and they actually killed their parents in their childhood?

One problem.... I'm afraid too many characters will mess up the story... but I hope Gareth Evans can prove me wrong.

The original Bangkok Dangerous (not the one with Nicholas Cage) featured a deaf and mute hit man.

See now...I didn't think the first one was that great. Sure it had good action scenes but the characters were not really likeable or have heart.

Thanks for the info!

I agree the first one lacks story and character's depth, though that's not a minus point for me at all coz the action scenes made up for it. Then, I was thinking how nice would it be if there's more story and characters in the sequel... but now I read that teaser breakdown from Evans, I'm worried the story will be shifted too much to the gangsters' war and Rama as the lead and the martial arts elements will be forgotten. It almost sound like the Indonesian gangster boss' son is the lead, instead of Rama.

Compared to most martial arts movies, I felt that The Raid had a lot more character depth and heart. Even though there's not a whole lot of dialogue, I really felt for Rama's character, who just wants to bring his brother back from the mess he's got himself into, and also needs to keep himself from dying because he's got a wife and child to get back to. I also thought the other characters were fairly well fleshed out... Andi is struggling to find his place in the world, Tama is a sociopath with a bit of a God complex, Mad Dog detests using guns because he is addicted to killing people in hand-to-hand combat, etc.

I'm gonna say that extra 30+ mins is gonna be mostly for the story.

I watched The Raid: Redemption a week ago for the first time. Needless to say, I'm excited for this one!

Roughly 2 and a half hours of raw awesomeness. I am ready!

Wow this will be 2 and half hours? Hopefully the film won't have dull spots. I know there is lots of characters this time so hopefully the time is given to develop them. And lots of action is always ok.

Wow, that's risky. It is possible for even action scenes to become dull and overly stretched out. However, i've got faith in these guys.
