The reason why the UK audience did not like the movie

Yea, and we get the "idea" you didn't like Superman Returns, yet you have taken many shots at that movie. So I guess no more reasons needed from you on why you didn't like SR.

Bravo!!!!!

He is in every Superman topic bashing SR. But when it is about a movie he liked, other people can't express their opinions. How things change, eh? :cwink:

Is that my fault that 100% of Spider-Man fans don't document their opinions?

Then what are you basing your initial comment on? Have you personally interviewed every single Spidey fan?

No, you havent.

So dont come into a thread spouting YOUR opinion as fact, when it clearly is not.

You made an off the wall comment, got called on it, and couldnt back it up.

Case closed. (as this thread should be). :yay:

IMO., Most of the people liked SM3. But, I think many of you will agree with me, that it wasn't as good as SM2. And I think some people felt disappointed, with the movie because the trailers made it look like it was going to be even better than SM2.

If you'll read all of my posts, I said that every non-comic reader I've run into has loved the movie. The only negative opinions I've heard have come from fans. How am I making an "off the wall comment" by saying that the only(fine, "most", because I haven't spoken to EVERY single non-comic reader on the face of this planet who saw Spider-Man 3) negative criticism has come from fans?

I never said my opinion was more valid or important than anyone else's, I simply stated my opinion. Since when did that become a crime around these parts?

well this is in the uk, so this might not be everywhere but from what i have been able tofindout ( i work in empire cinema newcastle) is that people diddnt like venom for the simple fact that his actions to kill petre and the lack of screen time that when with it

i hasve been reading people oppinions on hear for a long tyime and its clear that all of you are trying to make excuses for what the movie wasnt as criticaly well recived as the last one all i can say is that you all nit pick to much

dont get me wrong i loved the fiml, everything about it but all i'm saying is that the general view was that venom was the problem, most of the customers i will talk to after the film loved sandman and green goblin jr

so there i have given a voice to the general public and what they in the UK didnt like asbout so now you can all continue with our *****ing

o please dont take offencwe by this if you feel i'm having a go all of you regulars are great and i taske your views with a very high respect (sorry about spelling i'm typing very fast!)

Your biggest mistake is, that you think by flapping your gums on these boards, you speak on behalf of the general public...and since when did Newcastle represent the people, in their entirety of the UK?? If your little story wasn't so stupid it might have got a little chuckle out of me but instead, I'm faced with some nut with a spelling problem who thinks he knows it all when it's clear you know nothing. :o

Lastly, your little story seems to have been told back to front. You see, the majority of the general public liked this movie, that's one of the reasons why it made over $800million in less than a month, more so than what sm2 made after 3 years:o and why these movies cater to them moreso than the fans in mind but, it is some or the majority of alleged fans of the spider-man mythos who sat here day in day out nit-picking this movie to death whilst it was in pre-production, production and post-production who have issues with this movie. The majority of the general public couldn't give a rat's ass about how good or crap this film is, as long as it was enjoyable, why? Because they have more important things in life to indulge as opposed to sitting here typing in threads, discussing which continent on this planet, some of the sand used to create sandman came from. :whatever: :word:

Captain Stacy, thinks he controls the hype, didn't you get the memo?
He thinks that because he has almost 14,000 posts, his opinion is the only one that counts. He is the spidey expert in all subjects. And he hates to admit that SM3 is the black sheep of the trilogy. And threads that he doesn't like have to be closed as soon as possible.

LMAO, now we have a stupid thread AND angry newbs, I don't see how this could get any worse. :down

Well, I'll definitely agree that this kind of stuff could and would be better off discussed in one of the other eighty-nine bazillion review threads on here.

Wow!!!!
Just because you don't like a thread, makes it stupid. And you are really a grown up, when you start calling people newbs. And since it is so stupid, why are you posting here? :whatever:

This thread is stupid. It is nothing but spam. The public did not hate it, and it was started by angry fans that could voice their displeasure and make excuses for people liking/hating it in other threads.

Yeah, like you're gonna hate a spidey movie, with that user name of yours.

Bravo!!!!!

Yeah real brilliant. This is a flawed topic. If I bash SR it's in a thread that is about the pertaining topic. This thread is about why people didn't like a movie that has made almsot a billion dollars. It makes no sense. Obviously it is liked. SR in it's entire run has made less than half of what Spider-Man 3 made in 30 days.

Do the math, it's about context. Bashing Spider-Man 3 is fine, but do it in the right thread, not one that should be closed. This is spam plain and simple.

Yeah, like you're gonna hate a spidey movie, with that user name of yours.

If it were Bat-Fan930, I will tell you I'd still hate Batman & Robin.

I base a movie on quality, not what character is in it. Nice try to discredit me, though.

This thread should be closed! End of story. This movie has an above average rating and is highly successful. Get over it. People liked it.

BTW - You have made my point on people making excuses for others enjoying the film. Thank you very much!

The general public didn't dislike SM3, it made loads of money and got good reviews from the average people on Yahoo. It just didn't live up to fanboy standards.

*Claps* :woot:

Well said, spoken like a true jackass :o .
You're in no position to talk when you're out here with the nerve to speak as though people couldn't have possibly thought sm3 was good or is the best in the series. You think sm3 is the black sheep? Fine, not everyone shares that opinion and until you stop acting like a gutless punk and have the respect to appreciate other people's valid opinions, you'll remain the joke that your post suggests you are.:o :word:

Rediculous topic!

38 days $863 million dollars. That equals many many repeat viewers. The general public loved the movie. It's the whiney fanboys that hated it.

an amen to that. i mean i agree, venom was not very good. but when i thought about and saw the movie again as if i wasnt obsessed with spiderman, i found venom very entertaining. problem was there were two fights with everone then the final battle. now if venom just got ONE good battle... just htink

In the second SM movie, they were at least able to balance the soap opera parts of the movie with the action, but the soap operish feel to spiderman 3 is almost unbearable.

WTF? Are we watching the same movies?

The majority of SM2 was soap opera drama, with very few action sequences. SM3, on the other hand, had an equal amount of time devoted to action and drama.

I don't think I'll ever understand people who criticize the non-action scenes of SM3 but then shower SM2 with praise.

Oh, yeah. And I suppose you call a 61% rate a good one for such a movie as spiderman 3, specially after being preceded by a couple of the best comic based movies ever.

here are MY reasons for not loving this movie, not even liking but not hating it:

In the second SM movie, they were at least able to balance the soap opera parts of the movie with the action, but the soap operish feel to spiderman 3 is almost unbearable.
I'm tired of watching a damn movie about the life of insecure, depressed peter parker who eventually puts on a spidey suit only to remove the mask in the final battle because he's got an emotional connection the the main villain. Why not call the movie: "The adventures of Peter Parker"?
I'm tired of watching a non joke cracking spiderman. where the hell is his sense of humor?

There are other reasons I could give, but right now I must go to school. Be back later to finish my post...

Until then...

Some great points. I actually thought SM 2 was worse re the soap opera aspects. About half of that would have been nice. MJ and Peter are not equals. He's the star; she is - or is supposed to be - a secondary character. Frankly, I'm ready for her to leave. I also am sick of Spidey whipping off the mask in Raimi's movies. Why carry it all all? He's supposed to have a damn secret identity. It might be different if Maguire was giving us some outstanding facial expresssions, but he's not in particular. And, lastly, yeah where the hell IS Spidey's sense of humor? Watched SM 1 the other night and was happy to hear again that jibe he made to the wrestler in the cage match. Why not make more ironic quips? His character is famous for it. It's not that Maguire couldn't pull it off.

You can blame that on the critics. In SM1, Peter and Norman kept their masks on the entire time. Critics complained that the masks prevented the audience from seeing the actual actors (and I'm sure the studio complained too - if they're paying these actors millions of dollars, they want to be sure it's them in the suits and not some body doubles). Raimi was basically forced into creating situations in the sequels where the masks would come off.

How anyone can say the general public didn't like Spider-Man 3, or any of the Spider-Man movies for that matter, is beyond me.
