Iron Man The release date..a big plus

Iron man stands alone to open up next years Summer with the May 2nd release date... now we can't look for Spiderman 3 type numbers...but many people may be surprised at just how big this movie on that date could be.

THe Hulk and Batman are making a mistake IMO Summer movie of this nature do well to seek a release date BEFORE the memorial day weekend!

Narnia 2 is one of the biggest sharks of next summer (yeah, it's even bigger than TDK or Indy 4), also Speed Racer coming out just in the same month will make a very serious competition for IM.

So what can save IM from being flop? Three words: smark marketing strategy. It will help the movie to get huge enough opening (something between $55 and $65m). After it, we can just hope for good WOM and nice legs.

I think IM has enough chances to get to $200m, even if there is such a big shark as Narnia 2.

I really think Iron Man will be successful. The underdog against Batman but it will be decent plus the less hype and less expectations will serve well. Most of the time fans expect SO MUCH and they never learn from that. They end up getting disappointed.

First, wow there are a lot of new posters since Spidey came out.

Second, I wonder how popular Iron Man even is? Even if the Hulk(2003) had been good, it never would have made more than 160ish. Hulk isn't popular and neither is Iron Man to the general audience. If this is suppose to be kinda adult,then I don't see it doing more than what Hulk would have.

The general public who watch movies don't read comic books avidly, Hulk had the potencial to be huge because it was a long running TV show in the late 70's and early 80's while most people knew it was based on a comic book like Spiderman and batman, the general audience probubly didn't know that much about it. When the movie came out it played more like a horror movie then a comic book movie..IMO.

Again many of Batmans villains are known from a old TV show for the general audience (older) that sees thease movies. Most people didn't know who Rah's ah guhl was..... I doubt the thousands that trotted out to see Spiderman 3 really knew who Venom was....

Ironmn will look very cool in the trailers it will atract people for the first opening of 08, the Marvel Logo in the trailers will atract a few more.

wow I would be surprised if it came that early...they can't have that much shot and edited for a teaser..even if it is just a teaser, unless it is something they won't even use in the movie....ala the big spider web for Spiderman 1
