Exactly..........but you have some people who seem to see their favorite hero. Even claim to see Silver Surfer being like Superman.......It's just the nature of fanboys. If they want to see Batman in BP(which I don't get that at all) then let them. It's like trying to talk a KKK member that we all bleed red.........they just won't get it!

For me the important part is that the writing team establishes the character in their own rights, distinguishing them from their power. A lot of similarities will start and end with the power and possibly some similar tragic background, but as soon as you give a character psychological dept and good supporting cast the character, if he/she is worthwhile will stand the test of time.
Even Sentry, which at a glance is a disgusting Superman rip off has his own weird storyline, and shows up at the end of every Marvel event.
And sometimes a ripoff will be better then the original, like Mr.Fantastic compared to Plastic Man.
