It's been so long since last I played it, I think I'll have to put the original FF on hold for a few days.

Playing the original NES cart? If so, hope it's still there in a few days :o

I was playing Super Metroid yesterday, coincidentally. you just creeped me out:(

Seriously though, I'd like to flesh out my SNES collection. I have:

Super Mario World
Super Mario All-stars
Super Mario Kart
Super Metroid
Star Fox
Mega Man X
Zelda: LttP
Ken Griffey Jr Presents Major League Baseball (which I will argue til my death as the greatest baseball game of all time:o)
NBA Jam Tournament Edition
NBA Live 96
NCAA Basketball (which I will argue til my death as the worst sports game ever.)
Ms. Pacman

That's it. It's pretty embarrassing to not own at least one of the SNES's vaunted RPGs:o

Damn, you need to get your hands on a copy of Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy II, and Final Fantasy III.

Well, I still have the remake on the PS1, so I'm covered.

I also have Donkey Kong Country, I totally forgot about that:o

Secret of Mana kind of blew.:o

i remember when dk country visually wowed me.

times have changed.

It's not like it looks like crap though. For a 16-bit system, it was still a huge graphical accomplishment.

The first one rocked. I could never get 100% on it though. Highest I ever got was in the low 90s. :(

Secret of Mana kind of blew.:o
Mana was cool. It was a regular, straight forward RPG, but the real time battles ruled and the menu screens were simple in their set up and easy to navigate. Story was good too.
Wish the sequel would've got ported over to the SNES, but NOOOOOO...those damn Japs had to have it all to themselves. :o :(

I was playing the original TMNT yesterday. That game is totally underrated compared to its arcade brethren.

Though Donatello and Leonardo are the only two turtles you can use without becoming a damage-magnet. Raph & Mikey's weapons have so little range:( Meanwhile Don's bo extends about twice its normal length:confused:

Mikey isn't bad, but Raph is just...................well, it takes mad 1337 skillz to be able to play him.

Don't remember much about that game, other than that dam stage where you had to defuse the bombs. :(

I never actually beat it. I would always die by the time I got to the Technodrome.

I can't remember how far I got in it, but I know I never beat it either. :o

I too was shamed by this game.

That's kind of why I'm playing it again, to beat its posthumous ass

I posted a link to the messiah site a couple pages back, where they not only have wireless NES & SNES controllers, but are going to sell a pimped-out homage console to the NES:o

I just won Mega Man 3 on ebay for $5.50. Of course the shipping was $4, but that's ebay for you.:(

The top 15 is getting closer to being completed. Games with * being the games I need.

JAKE'S TOP 15 (in no particular order):

Super Mario Bros/Duckhunt
Super Mario Bros 2
Super Mario Bros 3
Legend of Zelda
Legend of Zelda II: Adventure of Link
TMNT
TMNT II: Arcade*
TMNT III: Manhattan Project
Mega Man*
Mega Man 2*
Mega Man 3
Castlevania
Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!
Tecmo Super Bowl
Kirby's Adventure*

Alternates:

Kid Icarus*
Metroid*

Of course I don't really think the original TMNT is a top-15 NES game, but I kind of think I'll leave it there to keep the big franchises intact, what with the sequels and all. I break this rule with Mega Man games, because, well, I don't want to be pooping out the big dollars to pick up the rare and obviously less great Mega Man games (4,5,6). Same with Castlevania, but I really only like the first Castlevania on NES. I'll probably drop Kid Icarus from the top 15, because it suffers from being a lone game and I just don't dig it as much as Kirby.:o Same with Metroid. It really hurts me to leave Metroid off, but I have Zero Mission (the GBA update), and I just can't make myself want to pay money for the NES version. Even though I fully know that it's a top-15 NES game.:( That's what Turtle-love does to you.

Turtles 3 is actually better than Turtles 2. I mean, technically. Turtles 2 will always be top in most people's hearts (and my own) because of the classic levels and such. Flaming street with legions of foot soldiers, 3 little metal robots from the cartoon and then Rocksteady. As opposed to Turtles 3's opening level, a beach. With no tiny robots! They really don't compare.

And of course we've discussed the first Turtles game, which really isn't top-15 but has sentimental value to myself, plus I really want to keep the trilogy together on display.

I wasn't the biggest Contra fan ever. Heresy to most. Super C was better.:o Of course I wouldn't stick that in my top-15 rack either. Just my preference. Plus, picking up those games on ebay kills your wallet. Another reason I stray from Kid Icarus. Though I fully expect I'll be reamed trying to pick up Kirby, it's totally worth it. I love that little puffball.:o

Oh man I forgot about River City Ransom. That can be an alternate too. If I find it for cheap I may have to throw out a precious Turtles game:(

Of course, I know I'll never find it for cheap.:D

Super Mario Bros/Duckhunt

Best video game/video game combo ever, will not argue.

Do you guys remember the Six Pack on the Genesis? That was the ****, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Sonic, a game about that 7up dot  , and a crappy ass motorcycle game that made me so mad when I lost... Seriously, retro games are sweet.

In other news the Gamecube is getting a new Sonic collection with Sonic CD on it. I don't know if the PS2 is getting it or not.

Regardless, Sonic CD is like, the best Sonic game.:o

Sonic and Knuckles is the Sonic game. You could put Sonic 3 on top and then play with Tails on Sonic and Knuckles. That's ill.

Sonic CD was better:o

I just won TMNT IV: Turtles in Time on ebay:o

the BEST Turtles game:o

Oh man, what a fun game!! When my brother and I were kids we spent hours playing it.

Does anyone remember a Genesis game called Beast Wrestler? You got to pick from one of a handful of monsters and fight in a big wrestling ring (it was really more of a fighting game than a wrestling game), and sometimes your monster would mutate into something cooler or a f'd-up hybrid of two of the others. I only dimly remember it, but it was a lot of fun, and I pwned with the white octopus thing. :D

Well, my NES ebay addiction is alive and kicking. Just won an auction of Mega Man 5, Mega Man 6, and Kirby's Adventure, all three with manuals, for $12.38 shipped. Great deal, amazed I got it.

I know, I know, I said I wasn't going to go after the late Mega Man games. But for this price, an exception had to be made. I think I'm just going to promptly put them back on ebay and try to get double what I paid on these 2 rare games with instruction booklets.:o Plus, I got Kirby! It's a nice deal for me.

Next up: Turtles II and probably a better-working copy of the original Turtles game (which I need to stick a deck of cards in my NES to pin down the cartridge extra-deep or else it won't work).

I'm also looking for a SNES copy of Power Rangers: The Movie. My buddy rented it for his like, 5th grade birthday party and we played it all night. It wasn't even that good of a game. It's just become legendary in my circle of friends.

Anyway...not that people care...but it gives me an excuse to post something while I'm bored:

Super Mario Bros/Duckhunt
Super Mario Bros 2
Super Mario Bros 3
Legend of Zelda
Legend of Zelda II: Adventure of Link
TMNT
TMNT II: Arcade*
TMNT III: Manhattan Project
Mega Man*
Mega Man 2*
Mega Man 3
Castlevania
Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!
Tecmo Super Bowl
Kirby's Adventure

Down to three sweet, sweet games.:o
