So what do you guys think they will do with Lex? Will he just appear in a few episodes, or be back full time?

It hasn't even been confirmed that he'll be back at all.

I thought it was confirmed before SDCC, or was it just fanboy speculation again?

Fanboy speculation. Trust me, if Rosenbaum's return had been confirmed, the internet would've exploded.

Lex will be back. Back from the dead.

But I'm skeptical about Rosenbaum returning.

They can have Lex as a threat without showing the actor's face again.

My guess is if Rosenbaum doesn't return their going to have to recast . This series can't end without Lex Luthor, he's the arch-nemesis of Superman .

It very well can, as long as it ends with Superman. Lex Luthor is not indispensable.

I agree about Superman 100% But Lex is an integral part of the mythology . This series started with him it should also end with him in some form or another at the very least he should return to the public eye and reformat his image in the public eye as well as his Company so he can be the untouchable corporate business tycoon that is also secretly the Criminal Mastermind of Metropolis underworld . Just like he is in STAS, Superman can't touch him because he's got the law on his side .

I'm still hoping Lazurus involves Lex's resurrection, but it's doubtful.

However the hell they bring the character back, you can bet he won't know Clark's secret anymore.. to align with the mythos.

I think he'll be cloned, or resurrected like Tess.

Yeah, but we're forgetting that in the older comics, from the pre-crisis era, Lex was a criminal mastermind first and foremost.
It was only after the reboot of Superman by John Bryne that Lex became a leader in the eyes of the public, and got the law on his side.

I think it would be better set up for Lex to come back as more the criminal route this time. He could still be more in public, but he shouldn't have the law on his side.

Also, the fact that Superman doesn't touch Lex, isn't because the law is on Lex's side, it's because Superman doesn't kill humans. Plus, STAS Superman isn't canon. Only the comics.

But yeah, all in all, you don't need Lex Luthor, but it would be nice. Even a big hint would be fine.

Resurrected would be fine. I suppose having the clone be the one that got blown up wouldn't be bad, but having this new Lex be a clone, would be basically an insult to the fans.

Given the fact that Lex will run for President in a few years (the opening scene of Salvation confirmed it), I doubt he will return as "criminal mastermind" like Gene Hackman's version.

Doh! I forgot. In my defense, I was very tired. :)

Yeah, but I'm still scratching my head over why they had Lex Luthor in the comics become President in the first place. :)

Whatever he does, it won't happen until the last couple of episodes.
More than likely. Him coming back at all would be the type of secret the U.S. Government couldn't cover up. :)
That tells you something.

Ah ha looks like the Lex Luthor that died in "Requiem" was none other than a clone from "Cadmus Labs" based on the preview teaser trailer @ Comic-Con for season 10 .

Which means the real Lex is alive and probably in suspended animation somewhere in the lab . I wonder if Darkseid is secretly the behind the scenes Man with Granny Goodness overseeing operation of Cadmus Labs .

I think it was just another backup plan that Lex had.

I think the NEW Lex will be a clone.

It makes more sense.

The Requiem Lex had all the injuries from the Fortress collapse and still had a vendetta against Clark and Lana....AND knew Clark's secret and weakness. Lex was after REVENGE in Requiem, plain and simple.

He was gunning for Tess and Oliver too for screwing with Luthorcorp and betraying him.

It makes sense that Lex was dead during the events of season 9. He wouldn't sit back and do nothing while Tess brings Zod into his company and Kandorians plan to invade Earth. It's essentially Lex's worst nightmare come to life.

I thought maybe a cloned Lex with a different look (explained some how) until Rosey comes back would be interesting. Even funnier, if Rosey comes back for an ep or 2 and actually kills the clone himself :D

Hey it could give MR a reason to not shave his head if he has a clone that was never infected by the blast from the meteor shower.

Another reason I think the cloned Lex will be the new Lex is....

If the DNA used to bring Lex back is from a point earlier than "Arctic," Lex won't know Clark's secret.

I figured they'd find some way for Lex to forget that.

Well didn't the meteor shower affect his DNA like it did for everyone else.

He lost the ability to grow hair. If they used his DNA from his adult life, the clone would have that DNA alteration as well.

But the "Running for President" Lex we saw on the newspaper was bald.

I'm not liking the idea that the real Lex is dead and the one Lex that will become Superman's enemy is a clone.

Lex did clone himself a new body to inhabiting to survive the kryptonite radiation poisoning from the ring he wore in the comics .

So if smallville goes down that routh it's all good .
