I was 6 when the first Spidey came out. My older brother bought me the video game for the PS2 — my first introduction to Spidey villains beyond the Green Goblin — and was a webhead from there on out. Still love how the video games expanded on the lore of the Raimi universe.

Anybody remember this? It was like a screensaver you could play whatever music you had on your computer and it would have the visualizer bars on some of the buildings cause it was WinAmp. I liked WinAmp haha.

In tribute to BJ Thomas, who passed away a few days ago , his song Raindrops Keep falling on my Head from Spiderman 2

Spider-man 2 remains one of the most euphoric cinematic experiences of my life. I was about 17 at the time and at that point in my life, i had kind of taken a break from Spiderman who was basically my childhood hero. I was a teenager so I had just kind of takena. break from comic books and all that stuff at that point in my life. But I remember after loving SM1, I was very hyped for SM2. I remember oh so vividly smiling during the entire film and then... when Act III hit--the moment when Peter re-dons the costume and that elfman score hit and we see Spidey swing back in action for round 2 against Doc Ock, I was absolutely beside myself. The sheer joy and adrenaline rush I experienced seeing my childhood hero brought to life in such a fashion and fighting Doc Ock during that train sequence and performing all of those awesomely Sam Raimi choreographed Spidey moves, It just--I had just never felt such elation from a movie in my entire life up until that point.

I actually miss the days when these superhero films had commercial soundtracks.

Oh yeah. Alot of big films back in the day had hit soundtracks such as Batman 1989.

Spiderman 1 was probably one of the last big films in which the soundtrack was a major deal, outside of a musical film like Chicago .

Since then, it really hasn't been a thing the way it was from the 1950s through the 1990s.

@Frodo The first CD I ever bought was the Batman Forever soundtrack. The Prince soundtrack from Batman '89 was awesome too.

The good ole days. :funny:

I bought the Batman Forever CD back in the day myself. Lol.

I listened to that soundtrack backwards and forwards the summer of 1995 :D

Seems like all the Batman movies are always getting theatrical rereleases, I'd love to see SM and SM2 on the big screens again, don't think they've ever gotten that treatment.

What was the general reaction to Maguire's casting back in the day?

Alot of Skepticism .

I saw him in Pleasantville and knew he was a good actor , so to me , the casting made perfect sense, but I think alot of people were expecting a 5'11 to 6'2 guy who "looked like a Superhero" .

Silly 5 year old me heard the casting news from like a newspaper and I confused Tobey Maguire for the baseball player Mark McGuire or something like that. I didn't even like baseball, I don't know how I knew that guy.

You may have heard of Mark McGuire because around 1999 and 2000, Mark McGuire and Sammy Sousa were breaking home run records at a ridiculous pace ,and it was all over the news, and pop culture.

As it turned out ,they were both, lets just say, using "special aids " to help with those home runs.:funny:.
And that was a news story all its own.

You forgot one

His name; is Peter B. Parker, too grizzled to be Spider-Cop, and the B. doesn't stand for Burger.

The Spiderman 2 teaser from 2003

I joined these forums the very day they released that. I wanted to join in all the excitement with other Spidey fans. Magical times back then in the glory days of Raimi.

"If Spider-Man is the geek gone good, then Octavius is the geek gone bad".......exactly. Spidey's true mirror image in villain form has always been Ock.
