No Way Home The Road To No Way Home: The Previous Spider-Man Movies Rewatch Thread

Ah man, this is thread is getting me all nostalgic lol.

I had been casually visiting this site back when it was just Spider-Man Hype and I lurked here for news on both 1st and 2nd movies. I remember going to see the 1st movie on opening day and the threatre was jam packed. Up until that point, I had never seen a movie where every seat had been taken.

It wasn't until I was High School summer break in the weeks leading up to SM2 coming out that I decided to create an account on here so I geek out with others lol. At the time the SM2 video game was released 2 days before the movie came out and I had played the game non-stop and beat it just hours before I went out to see the movie in theatres. The main story was just slightly different than the movie, so while I did get some basic plot points spoiled, it did not ruin my enjoyment of the movie.

Here's a throw back to 2000-2002

I still have this Wizard movie special. Same with the ones Wizard did for SM2 and SM3. Gonna go dig those up now lol. :hyper:

An interesting article from April of 2000 listing some of the names of actors up for the Spiderman role including Tobey . Some of the other actors seem to be suggestions by the writer of the article.

I used to buy Wizard and Hero magazine at the first of every month. As a teen in the 90s, it was a treat to look forward to.

Unfortunately, as the internet and news sites became more and more popular, and could deliver casting rumors, gossip , and news much faster pace than Wizard or Hero could publish it, they pretty much faded.

Still, I have fond memories of Wizard magazine and I still have a few boxed up I think.

Yeah, same here. Wizard was a staple of my childhood. Pre- internet, that's how we got our comic and movie news.

As a little boy in the early 90's, I remember walking into a comic store for the first time and buying my first comic (Amazing Spider-Man baby!) and my first copy of Wizard.

I still have most of my old back issues somewhere in my closet. :funny:

It's good you held onto most of them. I wish I could go back and look at alot of those articles, but alot of my collection is gone now, and I only have a few left I think.

Before I found Wizard magazine , I started with Hero magazine in 1994

An Entertainment Weekly article about the real time response to Tobey's casting. November 2000.
Tobey Maguire defends his right to be Spider Man

Great Mini Doc on The development of the Spiderman 2 story . It features Raimi, Maguire, Molina, Avid Arad and the late Producer Laura Ziskin , one of the unsung heroes who helped bring us the Spiderman films.

omg, this brings me memories. the Spider-Man 2 DVD had an insane amount of features, something that you don't see anymore. I pre-ordered that at FYE in 2004 haha.

A little off topic but I think that's Laura Ziskin in that Andrew Garfield reveal video, not Amy Pascal. You can kinda tell cause she was battling cancer at the time and unfortunately died a year later :/

But yea I remember being on the board when it was announced that SM4 was being cancelled, it was kinda crazy.

I definitely remember those that weren't on board with the reboot, like myself, would get told to "move on" haha. it's funny how things work out honestly. But I do think the GA wasn't ready for a reboot in general, and even though S-M3 was mixed, people were still excited for a S-M4.

Oh, thanks for correcting me. I'll edit the original post to reflect the correction.

I remember i was excited when i heard they were rebooting. a chance to actually get a new spider-man that would be allowed to quip and be closer to the character i loved. i didn't feel Raimi has much left to tell with the character.

I think The Amazing Spider-Man showed audiences could accept new iterations of a franchise fairly soon

Since we're talking about the Raimi Spider-Man films, I think it's only fair we also discuss the hype days leading towards the first ASM film (and onward). I recall the teaser intriguing me.

I liked the trailers tone. Not really 500 Days Of Summer X Spider-Man like I hoped but the trailer definitely invoked Perks Of Being A Wallflower.

Sony and Marvel make a deal , February 2015

Spider-Man is now a part of Marvel's Cinematic Universe

Spider-Man Deal Breakdown at Sony and Marvel - Variety

The teaser for Spider-Man 2 still gives me chills of excitement partly because of the impressive score of Danny Elfman's theme that is extremely exhilarating as you see Spider-Man webslinging to Doctor Octopus above the clock tower

Speaking of Spider-Man debut in the MCU in Captain America: Civil War . The trailer reaction was such a huge success it blew up the internet that week.

That Civil War trailer still remains one of the best, if not the best MCU trailer(s). Everyone went ape**** at the Spider-Man stinger. :D
You can say.. that trailer hit home.

There's countless videos of reactions on YouTube of fans losing their minds over his appearance.

*cough* The only thing that can top it is a stinger with all Spider-Men swinging around in the first NWH trailer *cough*
