Ah another superhero movie open and another trashing by a certain Chicago movie critic I haven't seen Spider-Man 3 yet but I plan to see it soon because I'm also a Spidey fan but I watch the trashing of Spider-Man 3 over on Ebert and *****e tonight.. If You thought the ignorance that was on display for TMNT was bad, Spidey review could easily surpass it granted most movie critics don't bother reviewing or researching the subject so when they talk about the characters their comments rub fans the wrong way for example the female fill bascially called Venom a bit character, even a novice Spider-Man fan would know Venom is a major villian in the Spider-Man universe and as for the green goblin retread if they read or even watch the Fox Kids Spider-Man series they would know Spider-Man would have to fight the Green Goblin again it wasn't Sony saying hey let's try the Green Goblin again because he rocked so hard they should know they he was coming back if they pay attention to how part two ended hell they setting it up at the ending of part one when Harry vow to make Spider-Man pay. Then they whine about the suit supposed to make Peter bad or enchance his dark side, Roper wanted the suit to make him to be some child molester or something to that effect I was thinkin what the hell dude? Yes, the suit makes him darker but not Ted Bundy dark or Charles Manson dark it turns again if they pay attention to comic book or the series the suit makes Peter into a prick not some deranged killer or some foaming at the mouth loon looking to do whatever to whomever the suit only enhance or brings out the bad qualities of that person has as then it takes over that person. That's why he rejected the suit he saw what the suit was turning him into. If you're a sandman fan they bashed him too again mocking his powers it's a comic book movie not an bio movie.

Man movie critics should stay away from movies based on comic book, enough with me what if you seen it what you think, if haven't does a bad review change your plans on seeing it. Me I've been waiting for Spider-Man 3 since the closing credits of Spider-Man 2.

You expect every movie critic in the world to love all the same movies you do?

As long as a movie critic is giving their honest opinion and states their reasons for enjoying/not enjoying a movie, they're doing their job. It's not their job to support and praise every movie you like. :wow:

ah, but you missed the point. He's saying that critics don't even bother to research the material before reviewing a movie like SM3.

You shouldn't have to research the source material to enjoy/criticize a movie.

If Roeper criticizes a Jurassic Park movie does he have to read the book first? You judge the movie based on the way the characters are presented. Either it complements the story or hurts the story. If it hurts the story then a critic should say so. Whether it's seen as an attack on the movie or the source material doesn't really matter. If I thought a Men In Black movie character hurt the story then it's a valid criticism even if the character is portrayed exactly the same as the Men In Black comic book.

JClive is nitpicking. He's crying foul because a reviewer called Venom a "bit character" and because Roeper didn't want the dark Peter Parker to be like Buddy Love from the Nutty Professor. There are plenty of hardcore Spider-man fans who agree completely with Roeper so this "Roeper did no research" argument is just groundless and silly.

No, it is not sillly. Spider-man is a movie where it helps to do a little research first. Roeper doesn't even know what he's talking about half the time{or more}.

In fact, you'd have to be stupid not to know of Venom before this movie.

If reviewers knew more about Spider-man then they would scrutinize the movies alot more. Raimi fans, consider yourselves lucky.

How was Roeper wrong?

Because he doesn't think dark Parker should be comic relief doing hip thrust and wearing women's eye liner with an emo haircut.

Show me the comic were dark Parker was a goofy corn-ball who dressed like a Chemical Romance cover band.

Maybe the Raimi apologists need to do more research, not Roeper.

I don't care if people don't have the same taste of movies as I do, but my point is if you took a second to actually read my take then react. If they want to go the route of well too many characters or the movie's length no problem but when you say things out of lack of knowledge then you're misleading people who might want to see the movie again Venom is not a bit villain, two Spider-Man at some point of the series will have to face the green goblin again therefore whining about seeing him again is point less and three since I don't care about Sandman they can say what they will about him. As for your point well Jurassic Park all right let me ask you something say you was a fan I don't know pick someone and me uptight movie critic just lay into it eww why does he has those powers, or basically degrading various people roles in that hero or person universe you won't be saying uh well it's his opinion who cares I bet you or those characters fans will be sending me emails informing me on what's what... As for research I guess you don't care if the person has some background on which the movie is based on so they can make an inform opinion either good or bad. I'm not saying Roper should lock himself up somewhere and have stacks of Spider-Man comics but at least understand who's who and what's what before crapping on aspects. As for Roper comments regarding on how dark Peter should be asking for child molesting or serial killer Peter is stupid if he wasn't that in the comics why should he be like that in the movie, that's like me saying well in the comic books Blade killed vampires but in the Blade movies it should have him kill nothing but werewolves and rubber chickens. Or say this well Mega Man was blue in the video game ok his suit should be a nifty red and black instead of his traditional blue suit and change the bad guy from Doctor Wiley to Doctor Frankenstein. Mega Man fans wouldn't be oh that Roper they will be pissed, he want things to change so he can understand it. As to your question at what point in the comics when Peter came into contract with the black suit he wanted to rape little kids and go on killing sprees?

Again I don't care if these guys hate every movie I like but at least know what the hell you're talking about instead either changing names of character or reducing people's roles in that person universe.
