The Same Old Wrestling Thread? It's Never Done That Before!

I sound like a broken record by now due to singing the song about continuity but let's go over the plot points and continuity of the ORIGINAL Mcmahon-Helmsley dictatorship from it's early stages all the way to the Judgement Day 2000 fallout:

- We find out that HHH got Stephanie McMahon drunk and married her which makes it no longer possible for Test and Stephanie to get married.

- Vince McMahon is livid and infuriated along with Shane Mcmahon himself

- Vince gets decimated by HHH in a no holds barred match and Steph reveals that she's happy to be with HHH shortly after Vince Mcmahon loses the match

- Steph explains to her father why she's with HHH and it's apparently to piss him off because of the stunt he pulled by getting Taker to kidnap her that time all because he wanted the belt off of Austin

- Vince McMahon leaves WWE TV for a while out of disgust towards the new Mcmahon-Helmsley alliance.

- HHH continues his ongoing feuds with The Rock and Mankind

- Gets Mankind fired after a Pink Slip Ladder Match

- Rock starts a revolt by threatening to walk out with all of their wrestlers

- Foley gets reinstated because of the revolt and later becomes Cactus Jack after weeks of HHH poking fun at him while The Rock juggles a feud with Big Show while still feuding with HHH...None of it gets lost in the shuffle either

- The Rock put DX at odds by making Xpac going against HHH, and The NAO go against each other and they start to see HHH's selfishness throughout the night which causes them to ditch him during the tag match main event and gets concluded with HHH and Stephanie apoligizing to them on the next show.

- Meanwhile Cactus Jack bring in The Radicalz and HHH gives them tryout matches. The Radicalz get cheated out of all their tryout matches and we find out that they turned against Cactus Jack shortly after because HHH gave them jobs to convince them to do so despite the fact that they lost those "tryout matches". So now Trips has a new team of people doing his bidding.

- Cactus Jack loses to HHH once despite The Rock's interference in the match and loses again in the Hell In A Cell with his job on the line

- The Rock wins The Royal Rumble and still continues to juggle his feuds with HHH and Big Show all the way to Wrestlemania 2000.

- Vince McMahon returns to stop Shane McMahon from interfering in the #1 Contendership match with Rock and Big Show.

- Vince later reveals that he's back to take back his company after watching McMahon-Helmsley reign of terror and reveals he'll be in Rock's Corner.

- After a few family scuffles, Vince McMahon promises Linda he'll "end" this family war at Wrestlemania 2000.

- Vince McMahon turns on the Rock and Linda McMahon as his way of "ending" this.

- Big Show leaves the Main event scene by "going Hollywood" and The McMahon family reveals their plans to stack the deck against The Rock at Backlash with Vince/Steph in Trips' corner and Shane as guest referee.

- Linda reveals she's putting Stone Cold Steve Austin in The Rock's corner to even things out a bit.

- Meanwhile HHH also gets embroiled in a feud over Stephanie Mcmahon's honor with Chris Jericho which Jericho takes advantage of by making it a WWF title match...and winning. HHH goes berserk retcons the match and later beats Jericho in a 6 man tag and a couple weeks before Backlash puts Jericho in a lumberjack match with The Rock. Jericho however was juggling this angle AND an IC title feud with Benoit simultaneously

- Rock wins the title with the help of Austin and Linda at Backlash

- HHH challenges Rock to an Iron Man match at Judgement Day for the title to prove once and for all who the best is. HBK later reveals he'll be refereeing that match

- Once HHH wins The Iron Man Match by Screwjob thanks to Taker returning, Taker becomes a part of the opposition and even helps Rock win the WWF title back.

- Now HHH is juggling a feud with The Rock, Taker, Jericho and eventually Kurt Angle
due to a brewing Love Triangle.

This is only taking to account the stuff that largely involved HHH, Stephanie and The Rock yet this stuff maintained a better sense of continuity than the Authority angle going on right now thanks to Chris Kreski's attention to detail and utilization of Storyboards and continuity charts despite getting mocked backstage about it and even in a public interview by HHH.

I miss CM Punk baiting Randal :woot:

And instead of allowing Punk to get revenge, he lost to Orton again at Wrestlemania 27.

You have no idea how happy I was when Punk finally beat him on RAW last year.

I think there are many within the business who feel storylines don't need to make sense. I seem to remember Jeff Hardy bringing up the inconsistencies in LOST as evidence that storylines don't need to make sense. I'll never understand that mindset. Little flaws here and there are okay, but you don't want flaws everywhere.

Which is hilarious because Chris Kreski was mostly working on stuff like Beavis and Butthead, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Celebrity Deathmatch and a bunch of other MTV projects while co writing Autobios. Yet that person had a super huge attention to detail and felt the need to keep continuity.

On another token, Matt Hardy felt WWE should have a well developed continuity because of the quality TV out right now.

I honesty feel that there are people in the business that don't respect the viewers enough to give us well thought out ideas. For all their Hollywood aspirations they're not willing to put the effort in to truly create a story that flows like many great scripted shows.

During a recent interview with Fighting Spirit Magazine, WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk had the following to say regarding CM Punk's WWE walk out:
"It's a smart move on [Punk's] part. If you look at what Vince has done, if someone has drawn him some money they will be on the card at WrestleMania, no matter what has happened between them. CM Punk will be back, because if he isn't, Vince leaves money on the table.

If being in the last match at WrestleMania is his wish, then he's going to try and make it come true, the only way possible. He's put the ball back in Vince's court, and that's difficult because Vince has the only court. This is what made it so good about having several places to go [in years past].

Do you think CM Punk worries about the dollars? For all the great ones, it's not about that. They might tell you that they're in it for the money, but they're not – they're in it for the performance, and so is CM Punk."

If true, this sucks for Naomi...keep your head up, Baby Girl!

Diva Title Plans Likely Changing Due to Naomi’s Injury (SPOILERS)
Posted on 02.11.2014

Sorry Naomi…

- Due to WWE Diva Naomi reportedly needing surgery to repair her fractured orbital bone, it appears that the plans for the Divas Title will change heading into WrestleMania. According to sources, Naomi was supposed to win the Divas Title either prior to or at WrestleMania 30. With her getting surgery to repair the orbital bone, she will now be out for a few months.

I think the wwe universe is starting to get anxious for Roman turning face and/or going solo,I'll sure be marking when the day comes

The baby dolls will be screaming of joy

Imagine if at WrestleMania, after Bryan (who won at Elimination Chamber) retains the title against Orton and Batista, and celebrates as the entire crowd chants "YES!"

But then, CM Punk's music hits, but Triple H, Stephanie, and Vince walk out. And from behind, Punk hit's Bryan with a chair, and then again. And again. Then, to finish him off, GTS.

Triple H runs off, reveals a referee shirt and, 1... 2... 3....

CM Punk wins the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and celebrates in the ring w/ The Authority.

That would suck. They tried the rebel joining the authority angle once with Austin and it fell flat.

As much as people like to compare Punk & Austin, I think they're two very different talents.

I think Punk is much better at riling up a crowd as an antagonist than Austin ever was - see his SES days and even during the second half of his WWE title run, he was getting decent heat just by being a pompous *****e and crowd-baiting. Plus, I think smarks hate HHH more than they ever hated Vince, even with the way he screwed Bret. Punk joining HHH to hold down Daniel Bryan would probably be the closest thing to real heat that Punk could ever manufacture at this point.

And more importantly, it might be the most interesting storyline they could come up with at this point involving Punk.

- We noted before that Cody Rhodes said he was not injured but Michael Cole did mention a leg injury on RAW last night. Rhodes is scheduled to see a doctor this week to see if he has just a strain in his knee or if there is a torn muscle or ligaments.

- There was talk backstage at RAW last night that Daniel Bryan might end up pulling double duty at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, working Kane as well as the Chamber match.
