Why, just why Santino? MITB doesn't need comedic moments. Hope Sandow wins.

The Wrestling Thread Is Taking Over The World....and If You're Smart You'll Get Outta The Way

The only upside about Cena dominating the WWE Championship once again is that he'll have to wear a hideous looking thing, rather than something as prestigious looking as the 'Winged Eagle' or 'Big Eagle'.

Ill throw this in the mix again. The Wrestling Thread...What are you, 9?

Wow this year's MITB is really going to suck.A ladder match with Cena,Kane and Big Show isn't appealing at all. Also The SD MITB lacking a certain two people is awful.Guess I'll only watch Bryan/Punk.

I think we should go old school:

The Wrestling Thread is pretty good ... but it's not PERFECT.

-WRESTLEMANIA BUYRATE DROPS
by Dave Scherer @ 10:33 AM on 6/27/2012

In WWE's latest update of financial indicators, the number of buys for WrestleMania has dropped to about 1,150,000, after originally being projected at 1.3 million. They are still about 100,000 buys ahead of the 2011 show but the bloom is kind of coming off of the rose here.

The Elimination Chamber show only did about 170,000 buys, way down from the ~300,000 that it did a few years ago. It looks like the once-promising concept has been hurt by the lack of legitimate top tier talents entering the two main matches.

Extreme Rules, featuring the WWE PPV return of Brock Lesnar, is holding at about 250,000 buys, which would be around a 20% improvement over the previous year's show.

The early number for May's Over The Limit show is about 150,000 buys, which would be its lowest number of the last three years.

-The lead single of the Insane Clown Posse's new CD is titled "Chris Benoit." The rap group is filming a video for the song as well.

According to comments made by Violent J to Freep.com, "It’s about that loss of sanity. It’s about the snapping, that moment of panic."

-Today is the tenth anniversary of John Cena's televised WWE debut.

Here is Dan White's recap of that first appearance, which aired on the 6/27/02 Smackdown from Chicago:

The show opened with Vince McMahon bringing out Kurt Angle. Angle talked about "ruthless aggression" and that he had displayed it when he made Hulk Hogan tap out at King Of The Ring. He then ripped on the fans, and even took off his wig. He made an open to challenge to anyone who had not wrestled before so he could show them "ruthless aggression" and make them tap.

Someone named John Cena came out, and Angle asked him to identify himself. The announcers put over that he was a developmental talent. Angle asked Cena if he had a chance, and Cena attacked him. Cena actually had some offense, even escaping an ankle lock, but Angle finally beat him. Cena went for a handshake, but Angle just laughed at him.

Several of the babyface wrestlers congratulated Cena backstage on his effort. The Undertaker came up to him and asked him his name. Cena told him, then Taker shook his hand and told him he did good.

Guess Rock didn't cause as much buzz as originally thought. I wonder if 100,000 more buys is worth the amount they paid Rock in Vince's mind?

I also wonder if Lesnar's price tag will be considered worth it when it's all said and done?

I find this hilarious. Where are all the people who flooded in here out of nowhere months ago singing The Rocks praises and saying he HAD to get what he got because he brought in a HUGE number of 1.9 million buys? More than evaaaar before! Even when some of the more rational people here said that sounded like a ridiculous over estimate. Now the number has dropped to where its not much higher that other Manias that have done a million buys give or take.

I don't hate saying I told you so in this instance. :funny:

Hell, pound for pound and proportionately speaking Lesnar did more for Extreme Rules which DOESN'T have a historic legacy or brand name to draw people in. Mania always does well anyway. Not always a million well but its still their biggest PPV.

They forgot to mention the part where Undertaker passed on the Matrix Of Leadership.

Cenamus...Prime?

We never saw Vincatron fight Hulkamus Prime to the death to pass Cena The undisputed matrix.

"Til all are one, brother. jobbing to me!"

Macho Magnus thought he had the matrix but Hulkimus just couldn't have that.

MITB looks terrible so far except for Punk/Bryan, but even that doesn't seem fun with AJ being the guest ref.

It's okay, I enjoyed Rock winning though

Anyone else?

Well, it just proves WWE's nostalgia act band-aid fixes aren't helping the company that much. WWE needs to concentrate on building new stars, and giving them steady pushes without pulling the rug out from under them.

And what did this do for the long term? certain people said Rock needed to win and main event because it was a HUGE record breaking buyrate. Thats proven to be wildly innacurate.

Apparently not as many people gave enough of a f*** as certain people claimed to even BUY it to see the Rock winning.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Wade comes back and they insert him into the SD MITB match. Cause Honstely other than Christian IDK who's going to win that match right now.
