There you go...even though Jacklin Kennedy was not bad......

How dare you question the sexiness of these rock hard abs:

May God have mercy on your soul :cmad:

To your point, they immortalize Ronald Reagan, who was a celebrity. They also strongly pushed Fred Thompson, a celebrity, in the primary season and he appears to be one of their rising stars.

In my opinion, it would be unfair to imply that Reagan has been immortalized *because* he was a celebrity.

Those aren't abs. That's just low bodyfat. He could stand to do something besides cardio and keep his caloric intake low. And is that....a mullet?

jag

How is that hypocritical? Fred Thompson was a civil servant before he ever became a celebrity, and he's not even a big one at that.

You're missing the point Tron. The point is that the Republican party likes to condemn celebrity endorsements and write them all off as 'liberal elitists.' The problem is that the GOP's biggest star is Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the President that they invoke the most - Ronald Reagan - was also an actor. It's hypocritical. And stupid.

His acting career is in the tube so he may as well go for Congress. I like Affleck and agree with a lot of his views. He'd make a good politican...unfortunately could you imagine how ugly his campaign would get? Gigli would be brought up at every turn :csad:

Still...President Affleck and First Lady Garner. Sexiest. White House. Ever.

Well, he has made a nice little comeback with "Hollywoodland" and then a critically-praised directorial debut with "Gone Baby Gone". He has a few movies coming up and we'll see if they will complete his comeback after the debacle of "Gigli".

As for Clooney, I too think he will make a good politician, but I think he had said that he'd have too many skeletons in the closet to run for office.

No, but prior to his running for governor of California, he was nothing more than a celebrity campaigning for Barry Goldwater. There is a tremendous hypocrisy in someone like Rush Limbaugh telling Affleck or Clooney to shut up when they are no different than his hero Reagan.

Ronald Reagan was an actor, but he was also a President, and many Conservatives love him not for the roles that he played, but for the duties that he performed.

The Right isn't exactly thrilled with Arnold, in case you haven't noticed. He has socially liberal tendencies that turn off many Conservatives.

The GOP doesn't need big stars, and doesn't care about celebrity endorsements. Most GOPers just want things to get done. The Liberals can have Hollywood; we'll take Main Street.

If you're claiming to not swoon every time you see that picture, than I will claim that you sir are a liar.

Clooney has done drugs, he has slept with countless women, and may be the smuggest man in Hollywood...hell, he'd be a perfect politican.

But seriously, I love Clooney. Batman and Robin or no, he should run for office. What are the worst skeletons he could have? I just don't think he wants to be bothered with it.

You can have Main Street if you would show a little less concern for Wall Street. :oldrazz:

I think you're missing the point. The reason the Republican party 'condemns' *some* celebrity endorsements is because of how openly vulgar, derogatory and slanderous some celebrities are. For example, you don't see Bruce Willis or other conservative stars openly calling <insert democratic politician here> an 'idiot' on national TV.

Being a celebrity supporter is one thing. Using your celebrity status/influence to insult the President of the United States is another.

Thats not the point though, Tron. The point is, prior to Regan's run for governor, he was nothing more than a celebrity who campaigned for Barry Goldwater. Why is it okay for Reagan to have done that, in Limbaugh's eyes...but he has a problem with someone like Ben Affleck campaigning for John Kerry?

I agree with you. If Clooney becomes a congressman or senator, and tries to lobby for a bill to be passed, you can bet that many of his comrades won't be able to say 'no' to his irresistible charms. :woot:

I've heard Limbaugh, Hannity, Carlson, and Gallagaher all insult Affleck, when he never insulted Bush. In fact, during his time on Kerry's campaign trail, he refused to. He said he met Bush at a NASCAR race, thinks he is a nice guy, thinks he is a patriot who does what he thinks is best for his country but he (Affleck) disagrees with his view. That is the worst Affleck said. Why is he a "liberal elitist?"

I can't speak to Rush Limbaugh's motivations for anything, since I don't know the man. My point was that Reagan is not revered by Conservatives for his acting; he is beloved for his actions. I have no problem with celebrities endorsing and campaigning for their choice of candidate. I was merely talking about Reagan.

And much of this country despises Hollywood, especially in rural areas. They may watch the movies, but the lifestyles are disagreeable to much of Middle America. So I believe that many celebrities may do more harm than good by campaigning for certain candidates.

Affleck also said this about Bush:

http://therogersinstitute.blogspot.com/2006/04/ben-affleck-bush-can-be-hung-for.html

Reminiscent of Al Franken on the Late Show last October, on Friday's Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO, actor Ben Affleck charged that President Bush “probably also leaked” Valerie Plame's name and so “if he did, you can be hung for that! That's treason!” In full rant, an apoplectic Affleck asserted: “You could be killed. That's not a joking around Tom DeLay 'I'll do a year, I bribed the state officials with corporate money.' That's like they shoot you in the battlefield for doing that.”

However, pundits like Limbaugh would criticize Affleck and other celebrities who campaign for Dems, when Reagan had done the exact same thing but it's okay because he was doing it for GOP candidates. And Limbaugh never criticized Chuck Norris when he was campaigning on the behalf of Huckabee. For them, Hollywood is only evil when they support the Dems, not GOP.

They have a funny way of showing it, really. To me that complaint always seemed awfully convenient. "Wow, I hate Lindsey Lohan and that's totally why I'm going to see Mean Girls with my daughter this weekend".

Still, quotes like this are exactly why I want Clooney to run for office. We need people with this kind of straight talk:

"Run for office? No. I've slept with too many women, I've done too many drugs, and I've been to too many parties."

If those are his only skeletons though...I really don't see the problem. What else can he have?

*remembers Marx and I's time in George Clooney's secret sex dungeon*

Erm...nevermind! NO CLOONEY IN OFFICE! :cmad: :cwink:
