They're suppose to be the "seeds" that grow into true self-destructive behavior. When they're small, silly, dismissable habits, you wouldn't think to "weed out" that character flaw.

But, that small seed grows into constricting thorns that "block out the light". That's also why I like Jesus's parables and metaphors about the exact opposite: the kingdom of God is a spiritual condition that also begins as a small seed, but grows into a tremendous, picturesque tree.

If these two sorts of seeds grow in the human soul and mind in much the same way, it is up to us as individuals to decide which to pull up, and which to plant. Which is the weed? Which is the plant? It's up to you.

That, my friend, is rather profound. Yeah, the seven deadly sins, as vibe just said, aren't really that bad, but they can make you one grade A @$$hole if you let them consume you. Ex:A poor boy liveing on the streets becomes consumed by his anger and greed, and grows up to be a mob boss.

I think I prefer the Paracelsius approach. It's the Dose that causes a thing which is not a poison to become a poison. A balanced amount of the 7's is not a problem but as soon as you let them dictate you things become bad.

Pride and envy in particular, and to a certain degree, greed.

Lust and pride. Greed is sort of, but I don't "ignore the realm of the spiritual".

And I just realized:Someone can go their entire life without commiting any of the seven deadly sins and still be a total @$$hole.

ok this does make sense, but without the "seeds" in there, a lot of these shouldn't be considered sins.

nice breakdown though, must've took 5 minutes.

Its not possible to go your entire life without comitting one of these sins...

I made this poll multiple choice and the Virtues one choice.

You can go your whole life without executing a virtue.

Anger. I have this tendency to not manifest my anger until it just boils up and gets spewed out on a daily basis.

Interesting topic. It goes without saying what I picked.

Sloth, Gluttony and Lust.

But I blame my DNA. I didn't choose to be lazy, have a high sex drive and a big apetite. God designed me that way. :ninja:

Sloth... so many hours spent here instead of studying :p

Envy
Lust
Anger
Sloth
And a little bit of Greed.

That's 5:(
