The Shadow (1994)

Great movie, I saw it in the theaters about 3-4 times when I was younger. Now that I think about it, I don't own it in DVD. it used to be on Netflix, but was taken down. I need to buy it.

I recall some reviewer on youtube comparing Zane's performance to that of Clayton Moore's Lone Ranger. I agree.

I wish there were more heroes like that in movies and comic books today. While I love serious movies like The Dark Knight, it would have been nice to see something "old-fashioned", with clean-cut heroes and stuff like that once in a while...and that's why the new Lone Ranger movie made me so angry:csad: the movie should have been something like The Phantom or The Mask of Zorro. Instead, we got a depressing and sadistic movie that made fun of the character.

The Shadow or The Phantom? I'm confused right now:csad:

I still think this movie is so underrated. I still don't understand the bashing.

Maybe it's because some people think The Shadow is a Batman rip-off. It's the same thing with The Phantom and Zorro...I've read and heard many "funny" comments from ignorant people.

"Zorro is just a poor man's Batman. Stupid!"

"Why does the Phantom use guns? He doesn't kill people? What's the point? Why can't he be a ninja?"

"John Carter ripped off Star Wars and Avatar!!! I have acreenshots to prove it."

And I remember when the Iron Man trailer came out. A movie reviewer for a newspaper or something said:

"This looks a lot darker than the original Iron Giant":funny:

Heh! I can see Frank Miller doing that.

Nope as far as the Phantom is concerned he doesn't need to be a ninja because ninjas' wish they were him!:cwink:

Seriously he's called the Ghost that Walks for a darn good reason!

Why doesn't he shoot to kill?

Because he's just that awesome!

As for the Shadow... he already knows!:wow:

The Ghost WHO Walks :yay:

This must be the part where Nelson Muntz shows up behind some bushes, points and says "ha ha!":woot:

Just kidding.

I love Shadow's coat, which doubles almost like a cape as it billows. Very imposing.

Baldwin's voice and laughter just completes the package.

It's been years since i've seen this movie! I totally forgot it even existed - time to dig out the ole vidya!

I remember though as a kid, getting mixed up between Darkman and The Shadow

I swear, when Lamont changes his face as the Shadow, they just cast Alec Baldiwn's brother Daniel.

That's his "evil-face". Maybe it was Alec Baldwin's decision, just to piss his brother off.

A replica of it's on sale at Baron Boutique. Planning on ordering mine later this year in time for Halloween

I like this film, sure it has cheesy lines or moments but I think this film is similar to Batman Begins but BB doesn't do it over the top.

Sadly most of the pulp (and comic strip) heroes will suffer these comparisons, so much of their stuff has already been mined and re-interpreted through the Superhero genre .

Wow, did I really write "acreenshots"?:hehe:

Yeah, I think you're right about that. It's sad though...there are so many cool things you could do with a movie based on Doc Savage or The Spider.

But I think the lines were intentionally meant to be cheesy. Even though this movie wasn't a straight out comedy, I don't think it was trying to be this dark superhero movie. It was perfectly campy but in a good way.
