The Sibling Issues Thread

Does anyone here have issues with their siblings? This is really eating at me and making me miserable. My younger brother and I are just so different that we just can't get along. I just want to have a pleasant relationship with the kid but he just seems to despise me. Granted, I've had my own issues (bipolar disorder, being picked on when I was younger which led to severe emotional episodes, etc.) but for my own brother to tell me that he "doesn't like me" just breaks my heart and puts me in the foulest of moods. Everyone says we'll get past it when we're older but to me it just seems to be getting worse.

I don't know how common this is, but I don't like it. Can anyone else relate?

Perhaps it's just a case of sibling rivalry. I've had similar problems with my siblings as well, but in the end we're family & stick together.

What's the age difference between you and your younger brother, DS?

My older bro suffered through clinical depression in his teens and early adulthood that it was hard to approach him. And at times, when I was younger, I didn't like him much because he brought so much grief to my family with his outbursts.

But we're very close now. We're only two years apart, so that helped IMO, because there's enough of an age gap while allowing us to be in the same age range to share interests.

All siblings fight some more extreme than others that's all. Me and my older brother didn't talk to each other for nearly 6 years. One time I broke his jaw and he gave me a concussion in another.

It's all good now though.

I have to say me and my only brother get along great not just my brother he is one of my best friends sorry about your issues DS .

Ironic, my best friend is more of a brother to me than my own flesh and blood brother.

I have an awesome relationship with my sister. I ma 3 years older, and we hated each other growing up. But since around high school we have been friends. When my mom and dad divorced and they both moved away, we decided to stay in Southern California and live together, and that was about 6 years ago. Since then she has gotten married and bought her first house, and they won't let me move out because they need help paying the mortgage.

The only thing we really fight about is eating each others food in the house.

we came up form a pretty messed up family but my sister always got the preferential treatment compared to me and my bro. That plays a part too...maybe.
