Comics The Spider-man 2099 Thread.

Nice sketch!

Well, I went to a local comic book show yesterday, and bought a few old Spidey 2099 issues out of the dollar bin. Rick Leonardi was awesome. I cannot say that enough.

I would have to agree. And Dean said that there was a big article about the future 2099 in some science magazine either this week or last week. New Scientist could be the title but I don't remember.

Also I like how the three main threads right now in the spider-man comics section are about Ben Reilly, Spider-Girl, and Spider-Man 2099.

I enjoyed the series too. I think I even have most if not all of the main issues stored up somewhere.

I think my favourite issue is when they had the crossover with Spidey and having them both flip timelines. That was just a really cool and fun story :) Especially when Miggy tells JJJ off!

I have a few of the comics but they are all loose ones not in order. This rerelease thing is going to be awesome.

I did really like the comic with The Vampiric like Bikers attacking the train. It's brutal, and those guys look awesome. I don't think they appear after that?

I'll always have a softspot for Spider-Man 2099.

Back when I first seriously began getting into comics, Spider-Man 2099 had just started and of course I had to pick up the first issue. I stuck with the title for quite awhile, and vividly remember anticipating the 2099 villain rogues gallery, and how different they might be (Vulture 2099 being a cannibal for instance).

It'd be cool if they made a Spider-Man 2099 movie. I know I'll get bashed, but I would rather leave the mega-corporation stuff out though. I dunno. I just don't like evil corporations being in EVERYTHING.

I think it'd be an awesome story without it. Sure, get his powers the same way, but I don't think the main antagonist has to be Alchemax.

It might work, because Spider-Man 2099 doesn't have as many fans as the mainstream Spider-Man so maybe not as many people would get angry at butchering the story.

Might work as a Straight 4 DVD animated movie

I know it wouldn't happen but I'd prefer a real live action movie. That'd be so sweet.

Yeah I'm another big fan of the Spidey 2099 series. It was a great read right from the first issue, it was just different and the stories and characters were well written.

Plus the supporting cast never got overlooked, they were well integrated.

Just finished reading the whole series. Have read a bunch of issues over the years but then when I saw about the new Spidey game, and 2099 being in it, I figured why not get up to date. And I'm really glad I did! Loved it! Think I might start the whole thing again right away, I enjoyed it so much. Few lame issues here and there but on the whole(esp for the 90's!) it is a real enjoyable read, with some excellent art!

Have read on wiki though what happened to Miguel's character after the official series ended and I have to say, while I dont mind who he ends up with(relationshipwise I mean), I am happy to pretend it ended the way it did in the original book. Open.

Would really love those plot holes(mentioned earlier on in this thread) solved though.

I'm not sure if I ever read the last 6 or 8 issues of the series... I have them, I'm just not sure if I read them... I know that the quality really tanked in the 4 issues that came after PAD left...

:csad:

I recently finished the series, and it's great, well, at least until PAD left

PAD shocked me in issue 44 displaying the Goblin costume in Father D'Angelo trunk, that one was uncalled for, especially after her position toward Venom

Then out of the blue Terry Kavanagh comes in and controls the last two issues, I was fine by this, don't really have a problem with his story telling, seeing Father D'Angelo drowning, Goblin knowing Spidey is Miguel was good, but to see the new Goblin is actually Gabriel? :cmad: He was the more fun brother :argh:

I really liked Gabriel, him keeping the secret of his brother and liking him for that was good, I kinda liked him more than Miguel, why did Kavanagh do that thing to him out of the blue?

while there were some unaswered questions, Spiderman 2099 was incredible. Not only David and Leonardi did an awesome job, they managed to tell a complete story, with a beginning and an end (although the ending is in manifest destiny). It was intense, smart, brutal, and Miguel really grows as a character. I'm sad we never really get to see Miguel again (since he was written as a lite peter parker in exiles, and he's not the real miguel in time storm), but i'm glad he had a true complete story.

I think Miguel's gonna pop up in Superior Spider-Man in the near future... ;wow:

:yay:

Me too...and they're reprinting vol 1 of 2099 :)

that's good news! Hopefully, they will release the whole spidey 2099 run.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo....

Anyone read Spider-Man 2099 #1 last night?

Discuss.

:yay:

I certainly won't bash you, you have the right to have an opinion haha. That said, Alchemax is a huge part of the story. I don't think it would be as deep and as engaging without all the alchemax drama.

All i know is 2099 had the best stages in that shattered dimensions games...a toss up between that and noire

I just read issue 1, and it was really fun and interesting. f course it's a set-up issue, but it shows that PD still knows how to write Miguel. I like when Miguel doesn't feel like Peter Parker lite.

I think it had my least favorite but the thing I love about the game was I felt like certain things where better compared to the other ones. Amazing spider man had the colest combat. Ultimate had the best bosses. Norie had probly the best level desin and 2099 I like the furtherlistic look of the levels.
