So, yeah. The Spirit. I'm interested.

I'm vaguely interested in the movie, because I want to see how everything Frank Miller touches becomes ****ty and 'grizzled'. :oldrazz:

What's a good mix of classic and new ones? There was a new series that pretty much everyone enjoy last time I checked, who did that one?

Darwyn Cooke and yes it was awesome. And yes, Miller is going to seriously f**k the Spirit up.

People are going to recommend Will Eisner's run, and while it's definitely a classic and a milestone in comic book history, it's also extremely dated. So, read that at your own discretion.

Yeah. The only thing I can recommend is Cooke's run. It's what made me like the character, also, his Ebony was great as well.

I find it kinda funny that Miller felt it wouldn't be prudent to include Ebony in the movie, yet he was just fine with making every woman in the movie a ****e.

Cooke's run is great. If you want to read some Eisner stuff, there's a trade that came out a couple years ago titled "The Best of The Spirit". It has 22 of the stories Eisner wrote in the 40's. It's like $15 at places like Borders.

Sounds good, and yeah, I know about the Ebony thing.

I try to read books etc with the knowledge of the times in which they're written. I may not agree with every last detail, but it doesn't really stop my enjoyment if I"m interested in the story.

At the very least Samuel L Jackson is going to be funny, intentionally or not as the Octopus.
