The Stephen King Thread

I'm about 50 pages into Under the Dome and so far it's not a bad read. Some sequences are slow, while others are complete page-turners. I haven't read much of Stephen King, other than The Stand and The Shining. I did an amazon search and does anyone know if Cell, It, The Mist, Stories of the Apocalypse, and Night Shift? Also, I was wondering if anyone has read -- these aren't written by Stephen King, but are supposedly fit his niche -- The Strain, World War Z and the Living Dead?

It is one of his best. The Mist is part of Skeleton Crew, a collection of short stories like Night Shift, and both of those are highly reommended as well. Cell imo was only ok.

Of the others, I've only read World War Z, but it's very entertaining.

Just finished Under the Dome. Outstanding book, and the ending sequence shocked me to no end. I mean, wow. Just read it, you'll understand.

I'm talking about the final Dome Disaster, not the resolution.

The whole book was wonderful, back to front. :D Even with it being so long. I wasn't ready for it to end.

And for those who care, no worries. In about a year SK and I will begin planning a new book.

I just recieved Pet Semetary as a gift. While I'm not too excited to start it, since I have so many other books I want to read, it should be a good read.

It was good. It was one of only a few of his books to actually gross me out. :p

I liked all of Stephen King Goes to the Movies except for Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption. I just couldnt get into it.

^you really didn't like The Shawshank Redemption? thats one of my favorite stories of his, damn good movie too

I know. It was just as good a movie as it was as a story, something that doesn't happen often. :p

Awesome, I've been waiting for them to get around to this! The ending to Black House crushed my soul. :csad:

I need to read Talsiman again. I idn't care much for Black House becuase it was too long inbetween. I got lost. I should read them both together and then I'll probably like them more.

How did it end? I forgot.

Crazy lady shoots Jack, and right before he dies Speedy flips him over to the Territories where he's comatose but alive and has a chance at recovery.

I think. It's been awhile. Like squeekness I need to reread those two.

Haha, nice. I personally didn't care for the film at all so hopefully the book is much better.

Also, has anyone read Cell. The premise sounds interesting, but the general consensus is pretty mixed.

I liked Cell, but then I pretty much write anything he writes. The ending was a bit weak, but overall it was acceptable. :p

I really enjoyed cell but i thought the levatation and psychic abilities got be a bit much. but over all i love that book.

Alright, thanks. Though, a spoiler-free opinion would help next time.:o

But yeah, that does sound out of left field, even for the book's plot.

I'm about 70 pages through Under the Dome. So far its enjoyable, although I'm finding some of the scene's with the townsfold kinda boring. I wish it would just stick to Barbie and his journey. I shall see how it continues.

Don't worry, You'll get plenty more of Barbie in the pages to come. :D

Most of that is character study so you know the players once the story picks up. And everybody plays a part.

I just finished Cujo. Not the ending I expected. :csad:

I confess that I have never read a Stephen King novel in spite of the fact that I am am avid reader. :o

Almost every single King novel that has been adapted has a different ending. King doesn't like the happy endings.

- Just bought Duma Key. What did you all think of it.

Just picked up It, and I'm ecstatic to start it. Now I just have to finish five others.:o
