I still want to see Salem's Lot done right on the big screen. That book was fantastic.

My sister got me interested in Stephen King. I'm not sure she read them herself, but she got me "The Drawing of Three" which is the second of the Dark Tower series plus "Skeleton Crew" which is on of his compilations of short fiction.

I couldn't get enough of them so I kept reading and reading and reading. Made a great impression on me when I was younger.

I was so naive as a kid I thought H.G. Wells was the name of the Invisible Man and not the author for some reason. Throughout JR high I must have read at a college level. I can't remember ever being without a book to read of some kind...

I read Stephen King then when I realized that the Koontz facetiously mentioned in "IT" was a whole other author's last name, I started reading Dean Koontz as well. Then at the mention of "Lord of the Rings" in "The Talisman" I read that, too. :D Happy memories...

^Salem's Lot is my favorite King Novel. I also think Ben Mears might be my favorite of Kings characters. I just finished reading it again along with Pet Sematary.

Now I haven't read Wolves of Calla yet. I know Father Callahan from Salem's Lot is in there helping Roland.

Callahan tells the fate of Ben Mears and Mark Petrie, I know that
Mears died and Marks whereabouts are unknown
I just wanted to know if there were any more details to explain how everything happened to him?

I could be way off but from what I remember(it's been awhile since I finished TDT series)it does explain a fair amount of what happened. Someone correct me if i'm wrong of course.

What do you think you remember happening? I'm all for hearing some spoilers at the moment.:cwink:

Just to make sure. You are asking about Callahan and not one of the other two you listed right?

I actually wanted to find out what happened to [BLACKOUT]kill Ben Mears[/BLACKOUT]

Damn, that I cannot remember. I thought you meant Callahan. Sorry Bruce.

Its no problem Figs, I am aware of what happens to Father Callahan from what a friend has told me.

I have not read any of The Dark Tower books yet because somebody already spoiled the ending of it for me. Still might consider reading them just to see how it all unfolds.

The movie version of The Mist is also pretty good (although with a very different ending than the short story that you may or may not like...), made by Frank Darabont who is perhaps the best director to have tackled King's materials. He also made The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile, two of my favourite King-adaptations

I just watched The Mist movie with my girlfriend yesterday. Holy crap! That endings was SERIOUSLY one of the messed up endings I have ever seen in a movie. :wow:

The movie stuck very close to the original short story and then...BAM...that ending!

I was depressed the rest of the day because of that damn ending! :cmad:

Ouch. :csad:

That kind of makes reading that long series almost a chore considering you know what Roland is going to do at the end.

Has King said what his next will be after the Full Dark, No Stars collection?

There have been some talk about various projects like a sequel to The Shining, but nothing that has been confirmed as something he really is working on

I've heard about both the sequel to The Shining called Doctor Sleep, and the next installment of Dark Tower, but I dont think he said any dates.

The sequel to the Talisman/Black House is still in the works supposedly. Not sure what the current status is.

Just ordered Different Seasons. Stand By Me and Shawshank Redemption are two of my all time favorite films.

I want to see Under the Dome and The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon made into movies.

The way Dark Tower ended.. can you even make a sequel? :(

 on both counts! :D The would need to cast the guy who plays the used car salesman from Friday Night Lights for The Dome.

I have yet to read the whole series so dont spoil me too much, but I believe I read it's supposed to bridge the gap between the fourth and the fifth. Does that make sense?

I think they should have John Goodman play Big Jim Rennie.

Yeah the title is The Wind Through the Keyhole.

Here's what Wikipedia says about it:

In an interview in March 2009, King stated, describing an idea for a new short story he recently had: "And then I thought, 'Well, why don't I find three more like this and do a book that would be almost like modern fairy tales?' Then this thing started to add on bits and pieces so I guess it will be a novel." According to King, the idea is a new Dark Tower novel. King said, regarding the Dark Tower series, "It's not really done yet. Those seven books are really sections of one long über-novel."[1]
Stephen King confirmed this during his TimesTalk event at The TimesCenter in New York City on November 10, 2009, and the next day King's official site posted the information that King will begin working on this novel in about eight months, with a tentative title being The Wind Through the Keyhole.[2] King noted that this novel should be set between the fourth and the fifth books of the series.
On December 1, 2009, Stephen King posted a poll on his official website, asking visitors to vote for which book he should write next:
I mentioned two potential projects while I was on the road, one a new Mid-World book (not directly about Roland Deschain, but yes, he and his friend Cuthbert are in it, hunting a skin-man, which are what werewolves are called in that lost kingdom) and a sequel to The Shining called Doctor Sleep. Are you interested in reading either of these? If so, which one turns your dials more? [We] will be counting your votes (and of course it all means nothing if the muse doesn't speak).[3]
On December 31, 2009, it was revealed that 'Doctor Sleep' received 5861 votes, while The Wind Through the Keyhole received 5812.[4]

I would be very interested to see what's become of Danny Torrance.
