    Remember that line of Perry's from the blogs?
    I think the blackout is caused by Superman's return (the pod crash)
    If you look at the article "The Man of Steel is Back!" in the trailers/blogs (high res is best) the beginning of the article mentions "A mysterious black-out ...something something something..." (covered the whole--??)
    I dunno, what do you guys think?

    Yes, there is a blackout.
    No, AFAIK it is not caused by his return.
    1 month and 22 days and counting... :)

    New krypton AKA LL's new apartment is the most likely cause of the earthquakes and blackouts.
