Horror The Strangers

Saw it, didn't like the ending at all.
I enjoyed Vacancy much more.

I didn't care for vacancy.

on a side note this almost made another 10 million and the domestic total so far is almost 38 million. on a 9 million dollar budget thats good.

Just got back from seeing this...I give it a 5.

I'll admit it did have a good creep factor but overall it was nothing new.

I was going to skip this film because there's not much more you can do with this type of film and I've seen countless horror films.

I happened to read a positive review(one of the ones someone posted from a site in this thread I believe)that made me give it a chance. After seeing the film I have to say that the reviewer hasn't seen many horror films like this if any or was either drunk or on drugs.

He made it sound good and most importantly...different.

He goes on to say that the film doesn't have a lot of horror cliches and that it doesn't go for cheap jump out of your seat kind of scares, as well as when he says the couple only splits up once and that there is a good reason for it.

Um...like I said before, there's not much more you can do with this type of horror film that hasn't been done already.

The couple split up around three times. Excluding the first time when he went for a drive the other two times were stupid since the killers made it be known that they were stalking/scaring them at that point. There were quite a lot of cliches as well as times where my girlfriend and I as well as another couple sitting nearby were muttering how stupid the characters were at times.

That's cool if some of you liked it but I guess I've seen too many of these types that this one was really nothing new.

I guess for horror films this year there's always Midnight Meat Train and Quarantine(saw that trailer before The Strangers for first time) looks interesting...even though it's another film pulling the Blair Witch/Cloverfield style.

Saw this last night and was scared sleeping alone in my apartment. Thought someone was going to pop out of nowhere :p

I thought the film was good, and it's definitely an 'experience' when watching with a full audience.

Didn't like the ending though, and I kind of agree with some of the critics. I actually wish there was more insight into why the 'Strangers' were doing this.

Thumbs up to the director and crew though. The mood of the film was just right, and the creepy music on the record player really made certain scenes scary.

On a budget of 9 million its made about close to 38 million dollars already so far.

It added another 9 and half million dollars to its total.

So, what kinda horror film is this comparable to? Early Carpenter, Argento, Raimi, Roth?

The sequence where the man in the mask appears in the background to Liv Tyler is reminiscent of Carpenter's Halloween. It's an extended, long shot with a creepy feel. Incredibly simple, incredibly effective.

Rogue Pictures Planning Possible Sequel to 'Strangers'

This summer Rogue Pictures' The Strangers shocked us all by taking on some massive summer blockbusters and still pulling off a successful opening weekend at the box office, so much so that we heard talk of a sequel has already begun. This weekend we put out some calls and have confirmed 100% that there is in fact talk of bringing the hooded villains back to the big screen. Watch for more news soon. The film was about a couple in a remote suburban house who are targeted by three dangerous masked strangers. The resulting clashes force the couple to go well beyond what they thought themselves capable of in order to survive

Yep looks we got a new franchise on out hands itr looks it.

It will be interesting to see how they decide too take this sequel. I don't know, maybe it would be better if this film just stood alone.

I personally don't think they needed the "it'll be easier next time" line.

Whatever the sequel they come up with, I can almost predict a bomb. I don't know why studios can't just leave movies as single entities. Pointless sequels solely for the cash just taints the name.
