With summer soon to end, I thought it'd be fun to reflect on summers' past. Good ones, bad ones, whatever.

So to get it rolling, I'm gonna recall Summer of 2004. Started off crappy, but got much better by the time September hit. In June my girlfriend of the time had dumped me, so I was kinda down obviously. I think I was 20 at the time. Meanwhile there was a girl at my job who made no secret of the fact that she liked me (even when said girlfriend and I were still together). I made it clear that I couldn't reciprocate her feelings because I was in a relationship (sad since I later found out the woman I was faithful to had in fact been cheating on me, but I digress...). So, about three weeks after my lady and I had broken up, said coworker is still flirting with me, but I'm in too much of a slump to act upon it.

So one day, as this woman is flirting with me, a buddy of mine asks me, "Didn't (Girl B) start flirting with you while you were dating (Girl A)?" I told him yes. He then asked, "Didn't Girl A break up with you?" I told him yes. Finally he asks, "So why haven't you hooked up with Girl B?"

Lightbulb!

So I hooked up with Girl B. We had ourselves a nice little summer fling, and needless to say by the time September hit, I was quite over Girl A.

And that is why Summer 2004 was, in a word.....AWESOME.

OK I'm done. Share!

Why didn't you just give Girl A and Girl B names?

It's not like if you called one of them Renee, we'd all say "Omg, he's SO talking about this cousin's best friend Samantha! Hahaha, now we can laugh at him endlessly for being a normal 25yo guy!"

?

Short answer: It was 4:30 in the morning and I wasn't that clever. :)

So what are their names?

Girl A sounds like a Rachel

Girl B sounds like an Ashley

Not even close! Girl A is Dana, Girl B is Betty.

OMG, Betty is totally my ex-girlfriend's half-sister Denise!

Nice!

But, seriously, I just love summer because it's always so nice and warm. I like warm.

Not that I dislike cold. Cold weather can be fine. Like in the fall when it starts to dip down into the 50's and high 40's. I really don't mind that either. It's kind of nice because you can bust out the hooded sweatshirt. However, I'm just not a fan of snow. It sucks. Frozen water falling from the sky is NEVER a good thing. It makes life so much harder than it needs to be.

Like in the summer when it's a rainy day and it's been pouring all day. I don't have to go outside and shovel the rain and worry about sliding into a ditch because the rain is too high on the road.

Because, I swear, if I hear one more person in this city of mine say, "It's too hot out. I can't wait until winter". I am going to smack them back into February when we were BURIED in like 3 feet of snow.

I say bring on global warming. Honestly, from what I've seen global warming is full of crap! :cmad:

But, yeah, summer is magical. Another thing I love about summer is that it's time to hit Kennywood. I'm sure everyone here has an amusement park they live near or travel to that they have fond memories of, but mine is definitely Kennywood. If you live in Pittsburgh Kennywood is the best. Hit the Jack Rabbit, Thunderbolt, Steel Phantom and then get yourself some Potato Patch french fries smothered in cheddar cheese. Yes. Now that is how I start summer.

Which reminds me I have to make my end of the summer trip to Kennywood before the season ends.

Summer of 2008 sucked for me, it was going really good up until the 4th of July. I went out for a run and while I was running didn't notice a broken liquor bottle lying in the grass, I stepped on it and one end flipped around and hit me in the ankle, partially severing my achilles tendon. Spent July and August on crutches with a cast on my right leg, couldn't do anything.

Yeah, but those rainy days can lead to flooding which sucks. My girlfriend had 8 inches of water in her basement a week and a half ago due to flooding. She rents so she didn't have to clean it, but some friends of hers own their place and had flooding, they spent the entire day working on getting the water out. We were supposed to meet them out for a birthday party, but they had to cancel the party due to flood cleanup.

Yeah, but living in Pittsburgh, which is like living on giant mountains, you don't get flooding here. However, if you live in the outlying areas of the city where it's more flat you get the flooding.

I don't get the flooding, however, so rain doesn't bother me at all. :o
