Got this for X-mas.

Currently reading it... Will give my opinion when I finish it!

Now 2 questions:

1. This has complete DEATH OF & RETURN OF books included in it, but is lacking parts of WORLD WITHOUT.

What parts are lacking.

2. Of those that read the entire story, what are your thoughts?

That sucker must weigh a ton, are the pages neatly binded or does the middle section cut off around the gutters?

Oh and as for your question, I only have the Death Of Superma TPB so I don't know what parts are omitted.

This Omnibus SUCKS.

DC cuts dozen of pages from original story.

Damn, DC.... wtf u were thinking?

Well... They didn't cut too many pages. The info I had said that they cut only 62 pages (which amounts to about 3 issues) from A World Without Superman. The story rocked! I mean it was one of the best Superman tales I have ever read.

I dunno exact number of pages. But 62 is A LOT.

Funeral for a Friend (or World Without a Superman) was incredible good. No excuses for cut those pages.

DC blows badly. A publisher should NEVER, EVER, do something like that. Its a shame

^ and to top if off we might never know the reason for cutting those pages.

So many of you don't like the Omnibus, but what is your opinion of the actual DEATH & RETURN saga?

One of the best scenes of the series was when Bibbo asked God why he would take someone like Superman instead of him. Cutting that out was absolutely obscene. When a company publishes an omnibus it should be all issues in their entirety or simply do not do it.:argh:

You sure? I'll double check. I had heard some stuff was not included and I could not find it. That's why I passed on it.

Love the saga, Death of, World Without and Return of Superman are probably my favourite of anything to read. To read it all one after the other is amazing.

When the Omnibus first came out 3 years ago, there was a similar discussion (on another forum) of what was missing compared to the World Without a Superman TPB. First someone found 3 comic book issues missing: Action Comics #685-686 and Superman: The Legacy of Superman #1. I also found additional pages missing from other issues. Indeed some heavy editing was evident: one page from the TPB would be there, but then the next 3 pages would be missing, followed by one more page from the TPB, then another three pages missing. I wasn't looking out for them, but I also found a caption missing from the Omnibus -- probably an edit as a result of taking out pages. On the other hand, I also found a couple of pages in the Omni that aren't in the TPB including a couple of full page and two page spreads. That would imply that the TPB itself did not contain complete issues. What nobody had on hand to compare were the actual comic books.

I fail to see why it matters that they cut out anything if FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND is included, all the parts mentioned in this thread are there as well and THE STORY FLOWS FROM PAGE TO PAGE... I love the Omnibus. I read it straight through in about 3 days... I just couldn't put it down!
