Have you ever talked about how bad you wanted something whether it be a job, an object, a girlfriend/boyfriend, etc. then you finally get it and it's not what you thought it'd be; and you realize that you like the "thought" of having a certain thing better than actually having it?

Like if someone says "I like the thought of having a job better than actually having one".

I always dreamed of winning the lottery...

When it finally happened, I realized it didn't change much of anything.

....It was a scratch off ticket; I won two dollars.

Yeah I've thought about this to.

That's how corporate america gets your money. You like movies so you buy DVDs and watch them then you have nothing new to watch so you have to keep buying DVDs indefinately.

That's Capitalism for you...or at least a portion of it anyway...

I highly doubt my dream of ****ing Megan Fox is better than actually ****ing her...

Nah, Halo 3 came out and a lot of people were madly anticipating it so I didn't know if that's what you meant.

I'd say the thought of a relationship can be better than the relationship. My past year has been unfortunately based on that concept.

I know what you mean, I'd love to be in a relationship but I just don't want to deal with all the bull**** that comes along with it.

Thats a 'Lowest end of the spectrum" way to look at it.Capatalism to me in that context would be the filmakers..whos dream it is to make quality movies.
Il compare-Its still my dream to break into comics. But you have to understand the pleasure comes from the creative process, not the recognition or the sales.Look how long it took Marty Scorsese to win an Oscar.Taxi Driver came out in 76,since then youve had Goodfellas ,Cape Fear,Gangs of New York etc etc etc--If the dream wasnt the creation and working on the project itself he woulda gave up a long time ago

I think that's the only thing that I have "thought" about.

There's this one dude that works upstairs in the law firm in our building. Always manages to catch me when I'm heading out for lunch. He has an irish accent, looks like Elliot Gould and is always smoking a cigar. Everytime I see him he says the same thing.

"I'd really like to own a strip club in this town. I'd make a mint."

 Yeah...yeah, you would. I appreciate the sharing.

I got an iPod Classic recently but it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Sure you can watch movies and tv shows, but I don't get a lot of time to sit down and watch them on the small screen.

I think about 50% of guys prefer the thought of having a girlfriend than the reality of it.

"Dude, I need a girlfriend bad!"

Uhhh, no you don't.

I was thinking of something similar to this just the other day. When you look at rich people who can afford anything or get anything they want they look happy but a lot of them really are not happy on the inside and they look for ways to hurt themselves through alcohol or drugs or some other type of overindulgence. Normal people can get that way too but most people who can't have everything have to work hard and stay focused to get want they want, its seems to me that is always good to have something to strive for and to have failure in your life to appreciate it when you succeed.

I didn't think about getting a girlfriend, she made the first move.

there's a difference between the "thought" of having something and actually doing something to get it

because if you work hard to get this thing, once you get it, you appreciate and care of it

of course, in these days, all most kids have to do in order to get something is telling their parents, thus, no real sense of achievement

Everytime I want something, I just go out and get it, then go and look for something else...it never ends.

I made a decision some time ago, not to get just anything I wanted, just to get what I needed

and I've never felt happier

The problem is that most people always want more. We can't be satisfied. Always have to get that upgrade, always have to see if the grass is greener.

yet, is it really necessary?

I get the upgrade when I really need it, and I know that the grass isn't greener, it's just the same

It's not so much that people are wired to always want more, it's just that corporate America is so good at manipulating our minds that we get sucked into buying their products whether or not we even WANT them.
