Every year at this time I ponder such things, where I'm forced to realize that true life is about change and choices one will make.

If You COULD ONLY CHOOSE ONE - Which of the following four would you accept for your life?

1. Completly alone but very well off (wanting for nothing in the material.)

2. Known but apart and simply comfortable (Not having it all, but having more than enough.)

3. Accepted by all fitting the role of an "everyday person" (You have to work, but it is something you want to do with people who you enjoy who enjoy your company)

4. Loved and loving in return and having little more than that (Barely a pot to piss in but having folk who breath in as you breathe out - who you can have entire conversations with in a glance)

In my experience THESE are not really chosen, but in fact people kinda fall into them based on little choices they make in life.

Harder Question: Which one are you in right now? and are you in transition between one and another? or firmly straddling any two?

I'd rather go for 4
when you're with someone who fills your soul, complements you, gives as much, if not more than they take and you try to do so too, it doesn't matter if you're lacking on the material things, the support helps you get through
been there, done that

Are U at #4,.. or striving to get there? Where Are you within the four choices?

Myself,.. I'm straddling on my way back toward some sort of balance.

I would take the third option if I could still have someone there for me. But if not I would reluctantly take 4 because even if your piss porr and beaten down if you have someone to motivate you and be there for you it can help you strive to accomplish more. Right now I'm at a solid 3 I've got everything I need and lots of stuff I want I'm happy and I've got good people around me

Right now I'm roughly a 3, on my way to being a 2.

I could cope with option 1, but only for a few years, probably the same with option 4 funnily enough.

I guess I'm situated between 2, 3 and 4.

I have more than enough, working a job I enjoy and I am loved and it's reciprocated.

You choose and are at #3,.. but if you had your druthers you'd have #4 IF you couldn't have love AND #3.

Thats ideal for a lot of people.

Are you moving in this direction by design? Or are you being pushed?

Would you give up love once you had it?

So you are straddling 2, 3 and 4.

I'm naturally moving from 3 to 2 I think.

and it's not that I'd give up love, I'd just become weary of "not having a pot to p*ss in" sooner or later

As much of a romantic as I think I am, I live by the adage, "whomever said all you need was love, was never poor".

If we lived in some sort of utopian society, I'd choose 4 in a second but realistically, probably 3.

I chose #3. I don't need a lot of money and if I am doing something I love, then I would gladly work. If I'm working with people I like and they like me back then all the better.

That's pretty much where I'm at. I heard what Freddy Mercury said about "I want it all and I want it now!" and that's pretty much what I've gotten.

i'd take 1 2 and 3.
can't deal with not being something, spent 20 years in full time education, i'd die inside.

would be very happy with 2 actually.

Or Veruca Salt.

She wasn't thankful for what she had and felt that she was entitled to everything without doing anything to deserve it. That's why she failed.

She was a bad egg.

I understand.

I do feel that the majority of people with goals in life outside themselves move toward #1. That in many cases they reach their comfort zone along the path I charted here and "settle" because in most cases the level of success seems to be tied to the level of detachment from the human condition.

I've met a few people who are firmly settled in #1 or #2 who seem mildly mystified at how they got there,... wishing they were more at #3 or #4.

Understandable.

#3 seems to be the favorite,.. over being rich and alone or well off and acknowledged.

And everyone "wants" #4,.... but hate the idea of "living on love".

Where are you at? #3?
