The thunder- thunder- THUNDERCATS HOOOOOO!-thread - Part 2

Just watched "The Duelist and the Drifter". Everytime I think I'm gonna see a dull "Lion-o acts dumb and learns a lesson" story, the writers surprise me. When the duelist first challenges him, Lion-o surprisingly doesn't act like cocky imbecile but instead turns the guy down several times, which I loved.

I also loved Stephen Root(!) as the drifter, especially his comment about the sword that broke. I hope we see him again.

New episodes.....say wha!?!

THUNDERCATS
Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. (ET, PT)
An epic, all new reimagining of the classic 1980s animated series, ThunderCats tells the story of a hero’s journey to fulfill his ultimate destiny. On Third Earth, the kingdom of Thundera is being threatened by the evil sorcerer Mumm-Ra, and Lion-O, the young heir to the throne, embarks on a great quest to take his rightful place as king. The unlikely champion must work with his faithful comrades Tygra, Cheetara, Panthro, WilyKit, WilyKat, and his loyal pet, Snarf — who join him on his journey — to save their world from darkness.

• Saturday, March 24: “New Alliances” – The Thundercats go on the offensive taking down Mumm-Ra's lizard army piece by piece. Lion-O appeals to the soldiers to turn against their overlord, but Mumm-Ra won't see his army crushed so easily. He tasks Slithe with recruiting two new and vicious Generals -- Addicus and Kaynar -- to retaliate against the cats. Meanwhile, the Robear Berbils make Panthro a new set of robotic arms and soop up the Thundertank.

• Saturday, March 31: “The Trials of Lion-O Pt. 1” – Mumm-Ra's generals ambush and, while the other cats are captured, Lion-O falls to his death. Thanks to the Spirit Stone, he encounters Jaga in the Astral Plane and is given a second chance at life. If he is able to pass a series of trials that pit him against each of his teammates, he can win back his life and save the other cats. First up are Kit and Kat, followed by Cheetara. But the clock is ticking because Mumm-Ra has the Sword of Omens!

Does anyone know what happened to this in England?

I remember seeing the pilot episode (and even posting about it in here) on channel 5 one sunday morning... and I woke up the next sunday specially to watch it but it wasn't on and hasn't seemed to have been on since.. I've gone through my program guide for the whole of sunday mornings and it doesn't show up.

Edit: Jackalman concept art looks pretty good.

Apparently new episodes have already been airing in Ireland.

Great the wait wasn't too bad I don't think and next weekend is my birthday so this makes it more awesome for me lol

Just have a bad feeling about this show not coming back. Oh well, I will enjoy the next episodes even if we don't get anymore of this show.

I guess they really are serious about trying to bring back the Saturday Morning Cartoon block. Interesting move by CN.

If they ever take a chance on rebooting Silverhawks lets hope it doesn't end up on Cartoon Network.

When Lion-O does his trials, I hope there's a rematch between he and Tygra.

Maybe they should bring back Panthera to make her Lion-O's love interest.

Great new episode.

The new generals were introduced, Jackalman and the ape guy (I forget his name) and Lion O is still pretty upset about the entire Cheetara/Tigra thing. :funny:

He needs to get over that because it's causing him to lose focus. The Berbils and Panthro were awesome and his upgraded arms are incredible.

.....besides, there's plenty of other female characters in the Thundecats universe for Lion-O to mess with; fellow Thunderean Pumyra, intergalactic bounty-hunter Mandora, and Amazon queen Willa(maybe it's just me but I sensed something between her and Lion-O in the original series), and/or her sister Nayda(provided they appear in this season, ofcourse).:cwink:

Didn't one of the show's writers say that Mandora would not be appearing?

Oh, they did? Well, darn it all!!:cmad: Ok, scratch(pardon the pun) Mandora then.:cwink:

was so glad to see this show come back! for the most part i really enjoyed this episode but there were definitely some parts of the episode that i had problems with. first i thought it was great that lion-o had accepted tygra and cheetara but then it was a total 180 when he said how nothing would be the same. was that just for tygra's benefit? i could see lion-o being upset but it just seemed kind of out of place. then towards the end of the episode when tygra was caught lion-o is going to give up on him so quickly for the greater good? i was ok with panthro getting bionic berbil arms, but i didn't like how they extended like plastic man/mr. fantastic. i thought he would be more iron man/cyborg (teen titans). I also didn't care for the new thunder tank. that thing looks like a house on wheels now and not as sleek as the previous incarnation.that just screamed "new" toy lol.

i did like how mummra recruited the new generals and the beginning of the episode with the new hover boards with wily kit and wily kat. seeing lion-o up on the mountain was pretty cool and he looked more comfortable as leader. he seemed to really mature in the beginning of the episode but then he seemed to regress from out of nowhere. he's still a young leader, and i'm interested where things are going. I just hope they don't have panthro too much like plastic man. overall i'd probably give the episode a 3/5. had some good moments but the story telling wasn't really as good as the season finale. i like how lion-o isn't really blaming tygra for the relationship and how he called out cheetara for leading him on.

They were creepier than I thought they would be. Nice improvement from their original counterparts.

They are not Monkian and Jackalman anymore. They are now Addicus and Kaynar. And this time, they kill people!

Lion-O needs to get over it and get a new girlfriend already. Bring on the Amazons or Pumyra or something.

Even though it likely wont happen, if this show gets a 2nd season (which they should since its been said they were already approved for 52 episodes) I hope they dont focus on Lion-O as much as they do since I think it will streangthen the show.

Well it's not like Tygra and Cheetarah got together 10 episodes ago. It just happened in the last episode, and I imagine it's somewhere between a few days and a week for them. He'll get over it in time, or Cheetarah will live up to her name and cheat on Tygra with him.

^I see what you did there. :awesome:

But yeah the last ep was nice but the end just kind of stoped and we didn't see the fall out from Cheetarah for dissobeying Liono and putting them all at risk for her love of Tygra. So I want to see what the reprecussions will be
