What else are you supposed to evaluate on?

It did it poorly. Loki/Thor was executed better. Kang was executed poorly. Hence the results. Hence DCEU stepping on a rake at every turn.

The point being just having him lose to Ant-Man doesn't mean he couldn't have come back later like Loki did to build to a larger story. The issue is they did it poorly in execution, but they still could easily have had him losing in his first appearance work if the execution was better. Thor is proof this works conceptually. That's the point.

While I think losing to Ant-Man didn't help Kang, the biggest issue was the film and characterization not being good. The clear setup was that while this Kang failed, we'd be seeing more of them. And the one who came out on top would be THE KANG. The one to fear. I feel like they did better with that general concept on Loki where the hype is real.

I think the Thor/Loki comparison doesn't really fit. Loki's whole thing was being a subordinate and Thor was not portrayed as a proper killer until Infinity War.

Eh. Marvel Studios is already relying on the Fox franchise or else they wouldn't announce 6 from the ot cast in Doomsday. Dofp grossed about $745 million, not $600 million. The problem was Fox threw that cast away in favor of younger versions (that Kevin Feige is now ignoring in this Multiverse Saga) and Hugh/Patrick were killed off in the Logan movie.

Also, a X-Men movie in 2025 (including Hugh and Channing) would have benefited from Deadpool & Wolverine. Its just not going to gross half of Deadpool & Wolverine. Thats just a given since Deadpool & Wolverine the movie is a popular movie. If people don't think a X-Men film in 2025 wouldn't have benefited from last year's movie, then what are the chance of an actual X-Men movie reboot succeeding at the box office several years from now, when its all brand new faces?

I also think from the story point of view. Plenty of the X-Men we are seeing in Doomsday, would be introduced and set up there, unlike established MCU actors. Thats why imo, they should have made a X-Men film prior to Doomsday/Secret Wars.

Thunderbolts* isn't really generating a lot of buzz as of the moment, and I doubt by next year, more people are looking forward to see them in Doomsday than, the X-Men.

While the OC does appear in DoFP, that is mostly a First Class flick. And the First Class flick that came after it, while terrible, also outgrossed all the OC film team movies. What you can say is at best the OC value comes in their showing up in other crews movies.

If Marvel though the OC could carry a film, they wouldn't have called up RDJ or the Russos.

I am strictly talking about Loki losing to Thor in his first appearance, but still being the bad guy of The Avengers. Meaning you can have the villain lose and then become a bigger threat. Which clearly was the goal with Kang. If Quantumania had been a movie people liked, then losing to Ant-Man wouldn't have killed the character. The issue was the movie wasn't good. Like you said though, Kang had hype after Loki and he was defeated there as well. Cause it was well done.

One reason i want this to succeed is Florence. She is the best thing in the MCU right now and the best actress the MCU has cast, certainly in a starring role.

I was pretty meh on this project when it was first announced, but the trailers have slowly won me over. I’ll be seated opening weekend.
