Transformers The Transformers FAQ

I know what you mean. I typed that in a very stern fashion. I'll quit now.

I never said it did. I was just responding to your question "and really who is expecting it to do more than simply make its money back"

I meant MORE than make its money. As in Spider-man make-money. As in 3 or 4 times the production+marketing budgets. Godzilla made its money back. It didn't even come close to being considered a true "success." Compare that to X1, which made FOUR times $$$ than what it cost to make. X2 also made four times than what it cost to make. X3??? Well, that movie cost twice as much as X2 to make and it made pretty much the same amount of money (meaning it only brought it in "returning" fans). X3 was not considered a "success."

I doubt Transformers will be as successful as any of those movies (speaking in relative terms... taking budget and marketing into account).

That's what I meant. I for one hoped TRANSFORMERS would be Spidey-good. Everyone seems to be content that it'll be Fantastic-Four-good.
[edit] Actually F4 did pretty good... so I'll change that comparison to Hulk-good.

I get it. And I think it's going to make at least 3 times it's budget in theatres and sell a ton of DVDs. How many more ways do you want me to say it?

In all this doom and gloom, has anyone considered how this movie might fare in Japan?

A long time ago, in a parallel universe, there was a group of fairies. They were immortal. They had their own tiny buildings and democracy, while the humans in that dimension were still in the medeival period. (down to fighting orcs, goblins and dragons.)

A tribe of humans who had been ported there from our universe for ten generations thought this sucked. And each new generation studied the lore of our generation, always passed along flawlessly, and longed to go home more.

But then one of them named ___ (Spike?) befriended a curious fairy, and found the source of the force of the fairy's immortality: a magical stone that had the power to give life! It also gave the fairies their other abilities, like their ability to teleport and fly. Without it, the fairie's were just tiny humans...

It was the humans way home.

Betraying his freind, ___ stole this stone and used it to come home with his tribe. They were free at last.

But adapting from medieval to now is difficult

And this stone was not meant for our world. As they soon discover, this stone's life-giving powers has a very strange effect when applied to mechanical things...

That's a pretty nice Dane Cook joke

I thought this might be a good link to add as well.

Making your way in the world today
Takes everything you've got;
Taking a break from all your worries
Sure would help a lot.
Wouldn't you like to get away?

All those night when you've got no lights,
The check is in the mail;
And your little angel
Hung the cat up by it's tail;
And your third fiance didn't show;

Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;
You want to be where you can see,
Our troubles are all the same;
You want to be where everybody knows your name.

Roll out of bed, Mr. Coffee's dead;
The morning's looking bright;
And your shrink ran off to Europe,
And didn't even write;
And your husband wants to be a girl;

Be glad there's one place in the world
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;
You want to go where people know,
People are all the same;
You want to go where everybody knows your name.

Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;
