The Wacky Ass Pre-Crisis DC Thread

Hehehhe, I will when I get the chance. :D

Amazo punts the "Supermobile" so hard it travels forward in time.

Superman vs. an extremely powerful alien warrior by the name of Ormong. Superman throws around solar levels of heat, planets are created and moved, beings decked cosmic distances into suns/off planet into outer space... All in all a typical Pre-Crisis fight between two superpowered individuals.

Vartox's home planet dies, and he takes the resulting explosion without a scratch. Vartox also travels the 7 and one half million light years from his galaxy to ours in short order.

Being ground zero at a ten megaton nuclear explosion can't even make Superman or his equals blink.

Wait, why again has Superman got a "Supermobile"?

Ah, Pre-Crisis DC, my favorite era of comics ever. Where everyone was a bonafide god, Bouncing Boy was dangerous, and Superman on the top of his game strength and power wise.

To enunciate on the god bit, let me bring up the 60's Legion. Lighting Lad could "write" in space with his powers, and the huge, ridiculous letters could be seen for millions of miles in space. Cosmic Boy could casually move around thousands of tons of meteors. The Karate Kid, was, and still is the premiere fighter of comics. Matter Eater Lad's powers worked on the molculer level and he could even eat Inertron, among other near indestructable objects. Element Lad could transmute on a larger than planetary scale, and so on.

Not suprisingly, being the 60's, the females had lame powers. Saturn Girl's powers weren't nearly as effective as, say, The Martian Manhunter's are today. Phantom Girl became intangible. Light Lass... made things float. Shadow Lass... made things dark. Ah well. They still definitely had their uses.

Anyhow, the suspension of belief and escapism roles of comics were never stronger than most of Pre-Crisis DC... And, we always see instances of it thrown around here. From stories so out there that everyone makes fun of Superman and Batman years later, to feats that are on the tip of almost everyone's tongue most of the time. Anyhow, enjoy yourselves. :)

Gotta love Superman complaining about his power come down. As if yanking around planets isn't strong enough. :D

Sounds like Ronald Reagans dream of america.

He was rendered powerless for a while, so he made a goofy ass vehicle that still let him use all of his powers. :D

This has got to be 1 of my fav threads in a long time!

Thanks for the memories. I almost cried when I click on those links. Those were the days!:up::up::up::up:

And the wacky ass Pre-C DC thread was bumpethed!

Really. I was hoping X would update this sucker since he was posting again.

Ah, I didn't know anyone still cared honestly.

Anyway, I was planning on finishing this thread on another board, but I could do it here too. I've got hundreds of new scans.

Hah, I guess I'll update this when I get everything ready, then.

One of these days I'm going to dress up as Superman, do a handstand, and tell people that I'm moving the planet out of the path of a big meteor.

LOL, there's your Halloween costume right there.

People are always complaining about how powerful Superman was. How about a few scans of Validus to put Superman into perspective.

Hah!

Validus is going to be a part of my Pre-C respect thread.

Scary how Superboy himself admitted Validus was a dozen times more powerful than he was.

At least. When the Suneater got to the Milky Way it had just eaten a nearby galaxy. If it was an average size galaxy then it was approximately 200 billion stars. Validus faced 2 different segments each 1/8 of the whole. Each segment thus possessed roughly the power of 25 billion suns. Although Validus lost he was still on his feet and still willing to fight.

Yeah, the Legion watching that galaxy blink out before the coming of the first Sun Eater was about as terrifying as Silver Age comics got.

The entire fight with the SE... The fact that the Legion assembled some of their greatest enemies to fight it... Says it all.

Suprised someone else knows about that entire time in comics.

I read it when it came out. That makes Validus about 25 thousand times more powerful than the Sentry even if you take the million exploding suns bit literally. You should snap up Validus for the DTL. Last I knew he was legal without the GL ring.
