Comedy 'The White Lotus' (HBO)

lol going by Jason Isaacs’ accent, his character apparently grew up somewhere between Alabama and Baltimore.
Parker Posey seems to be going buckwild with her dialect too. Wonder if it’s intentional.
It's giving me flashbacks to Kathy Bates in AHS: Freak Show. I'm more amused by it than anything.

No, Leslie Bibb character whose name I haven’t yet committed to memory…

Yeah, the Ratliffs are a well-to-do family from North Carolina, and it's very intentional.

Long story short, Victoria, the Ratliff matriarch (Parker Posey's character), attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill; her daughter Piper is currently a senior at the same school. If you rewatch the first episode, you'll notice that Victoria continuously harps on about "Tar Heel," which is essentially a nickname for UNC. Her husband Timothy, on the other hand, went to Duke, as did Saxon (their oldest son). Youngest son Lachlan got accepted into both schools. The problem is that both parents are pressuring him to pick between their respective alma maters, and he doesn't know what the @#$% to do! There's also a basketball rivalry between the UNC Tar Heels and the Duke Blue Devils that goes back over 100 years. And if that's not enough for you, there are meta connections to the Michael Peterson story! The Peterson blended family, who resides in Durham, North Carolina, includes two daughters—Martha and Margaret—who share the same last name as the fictional Ratliffs. Actors Posey and Schwarzenegger had major roles in The Staircase miniseries based on the true crime docuseries about Peterson as well.

That's the gist of it. I mean, knowing this stuff won't vastly improve your viewing experience, but it definitely makes Posey's scenes a little funnier and also heightens the tension between Lachlan and his parents.

Film critic Peter Travers on surprise guest star (no spoilers)

HBO, protective about spoilers, wants reviewers to stay mum about the Oscar-winning guest star who shows up midway to steal every scene not nailed down. OK, but if anyone deserves an Emmy for season 3, it's this icon, who spouts a monologue that will blow your head off.

I know it's probably not him because the likelihood of his character showing up in person is pretty low but I'd still love if this was Ke Huy Quan piggybacking off of his phone cameo.

My mind didn't go to him at all, but now that you mention it, I can definitely see it.

It's a fairly slow season so far, and I'm starting to see some negative comments about that, but I don't personally mind. There are so many intriguing threads laid that could lead into unexpected places, the most difficult thing about this is the wait for a new episode. Sritala is still the MVP.

I'm excited to see how the situation escalates between Belinda and Greg.

Okay after this episode, I’m rooting for Kate to die. She can take her POS husband with her too.

I feel like the show wants us to think it’s either Greg (obvious choice, considering the **** he caused last season), Jason Isaacs or maybe even Walton Goggins… but it would be extremely funny if the social dynamics of the Girls Trip takes such a turn that one of them just starts blasting away.

I could also see Gaitok losing it and blowing away those ***hole bodyguards (who are totally the guys who robbed the hotel, possibly with Valentin’s help).

This is kinda what I'm leaning towards as well but I've learned to just keep a blank slate in my head as far as what to expect in The White Lotus. Mike White always throws curve balls.

Anyone recognize any voice actors on the phone in this episode? No idea if it was anyone significant but that would be cool.
