The Witcher 3

I did feel overwhelmed with options when I played the 2nd one on my Xbox 360, but it's nothing unsurmountable.

I guess it's like starting a Zelda game with all the weapons, spells, tools and upgrades immediately at your disposal.

I do think they could pace that better.

That seems to have been the biggest complaint with the game. I heard they went so far as to re-do the beginning of the game with the arena tutorial stuff to teach players a couple things, which is what I wound up playing on the 360.

It sounds like they've learned a few lessons by having the first starting section of Wild Hunt show us the games mechanics and systems before unleashing us into the world.

Good move I think.

I think it's just something console gamers have gotten so used to. From Zelda, to The Last of Us, your skills and arsenal are usually very gradually built up in console games. Arguably too slowly.

I'm really curious to play this game though. I think I am finally onboard the hype train.

For like 99% of other games sure, not for the Witcher.

Yeah, even The Witcher. I get that you're a big fan, but it's still entirely possible to recognize a video game (or any form of media) is well made without finding it engaging, or even liking it at all. You might not like Beethoven's music, or Da Vinci's artwork, but you can appreciate the skill and craftsmanship that went into creating them.

Can't wait for this game, really liked the 2nd one a lot.

Really looking forward to exploring that big open world and seeing what it has to offer

So is this a world wide release on a Tuesday?

Here's a recording of a Twitch broadcast from a couple hours ago, focusing mainly on the combat and going through a couple of character builds (one concentrating on swordsmanship, another one with focus on alchemy and a third and final one making heavy use of signs) in the process:

"Death March" (a.k.a. the hardest difficulty) is definitely named properly.

I'm thinking of starting on the higher difficulty this go round.

It just looks so stunning! I'm really torn - don't know if I should get this before Arkham Knight or wait.
It is reassuring to keep hearing that you don't necessarily have to have played the last 2 games to play this. I'm guessing it'll be a bit like Mass Effect 2 in that regard.

Yea the game will do a good job of filling new comers in. it'll be a great way to pass the time as U wait for Arkham Knight.

So, I looked and read a couple pages back to see if it was covered...but I didn't see anything. I might have missed it though, so sorry if it's a retread. It was actually something confirmed by CDPR via Joystiq, and twitter, back in January.

I saw a thread over at Giantbomb, and there was a link provided: http://www.engadget.com/2015/01/27/the-witcher-3-on-consoles-can-simulate-world-states-cant-impor/

There's supposed to be an in-game mechanic, through a conversation with a character that will simulate the in-world state of The Witcher 3 in the way that importing a save on PC would. We won't know how effective it might be until we try it out, but I'm happy to see something is being attempted for people (like me, and I know Pat mentioned it a few months ago too) who do remember the decisions they made in The Witcher 2. And it sounds like a conversation we should be on the lookout for in the game at some point.

"The way how it works is that the game on the consoles will ask you whether you want to simulate a specific state of the world, coming from previous games," Tost explained. "If you choose 'yes,' then you will get a special conversation at one part of the game - I don't want to spoil where it happens. It's basically a conversation with a character and the conversation is about the adventures of Geralt of Rivia. And you can basically deny or confirm whatever [the character] has heard of whatever tales of [Geralt.] It's actually kind of a cute mechanic. If you don't want to simulate the state then this conversation doesn't take place."

There have been some complaints about stuttering (like always) on the PC version at 1080/60... If that's the case (I don't have HUGE issues with stuttering, but I find that and tearing two be two things that can annoy me with games) I may honestly rather play the console versions at 90/30 if that's the case.

Not that I have an option really, lol.

While the console version won't look as good as Ultra PC settings... I do believe this game could be the best looking next gen game yet, the "Gears of War" of the generation so far that is.

I'm not gonna go all Neogaf and worry about no console footage yet. I believe CDPJ know what they're doing and that the PS4/One versions won't look like ****:

Also keep in n mind that the e3 demo last year was actually running on the Xbox one.. CDPR confirmed that, and it looked DAMN good... Sooo.

Also.. I'm didn't know we could sail in this game!
