So IGN's review spoils that this is the [blackout]end of Geralt's story.[/blackout]

Was it already announced by the developers that this would be [blackout]the last game with Geralt? I would have liked to go into the game without that knowledge.[/blackout]
Yeah, they said it when the game was announced and have talked about it all the way through.

It's true, I remember reading that quite some time ago.

From the Gamespot review:

The central story, which sees you seeking your ward and daughter figure Ciri, as well as contending with the otherworldly force known as the wild hunt, often forces this anguish upon you. But it was my natural exploration of the game's vast expanses that proved most affecting. At one point, I witnessed a woman sentenced to death, doomed to starve after being chained to a rock. It's a chilling sentence, of course, but it was only later, when I accidentally sailed past the tiny island where her corpse still rested, that the horror of her punishment sunk into my heart. The Witcher 3's story did not script this moment; it was merely a passing detail that might have been lost in the waves or overlooked in favor of the harpies circling overhead. Yet there she was, a reminder that my actions--actions that felt righteous and reasonable as I made them--allowed this woman to rot in this faraway place.

I love that the game doesnt reset locations and delete dead npc's after you leave. Really sells the immersion when the consequences of your choices remain on display.

I don't trust gamespot (or any game reviewing site), so that's pretty useless to me.

Fair enough. I think the reviews themselves, and not so much the scores, can illuminate me on the game being up my alley or not.

How do you decide what games to buy that you're on the fence about, though? Do you go through forums, or friends?

Damn that's awesome.

Games reset that stuff bc of memory limitations. I hope it doesn't end up like Bethesda games when too much extra content laying around affects the game's performance.

I'm SURE locations reset. They might pick and chose what is reset, or how long it takes, but there's just no way to get around the need to do it.

CDPR have said that from the start. Your actions physically shape the world. Fail to stop a monster problem in a small town, the town dies off. Decide to help the town, when you return later it could be a bustling trade hub. The situation mentioned above falls in line with that. Help a town sentence someone to death, see the consequences of those actions. In that case a corpse chained to a rock.

That looks darn awesome. Will just make me want a full blown Witcher movie probably though. :woot:

So I know this game has more intricate armor and crafting system than the past games. But, one thing I'm not seeing in all that is...helmets. So far none of the videos or interviews I've read about armor and crafting mention them. Can Geralt wear helmets or something on his face? Anyone know?

He's never once worn one he's a hunter of monsters. specifically born and bred for it. But I never seen him wear a helmet like a Cavalier (optional), Crusader, (optional for them as well) knight(they do wear helmets) or a castle soldier(standard to wear it) would.

Witchers don't wear helmets. Their combat style is based around speed, movement and taking on multiple opponents at once. They are basically Jedi.

Yeah.. Which is why I never cared about armor in these games. Unless it's required for some monsters.. I may not even bother.
