Hulk Hogan won the Royal Rumble in 1990. He was the WWF Champion at the time and it also took place in Orlando, FL.

Ric Flair won the Royal Rumble along with the WWF title in 1992.

Reigns's relative, Yokozuna, won the Royal Rumble in 1993 on this very day 23 years ago.

Reigns may be the 3rd man to win the Royal Rumble from number 1 behind Shawn Michaels and Vacant and the first man to retain the WWE title in the annual event should he succeed tonight.. He will also join Hogan, Michaels, and Austin to win Royal Rumbles back to back.
