i am actually glad punk is not the champ no more because imo the money with punk is in the chase he really cant be much a of a rebel or the voice of the voiceless if he is the top guy with a 6 month title reign or something

he needs to have the board and steph and hhh stick it to him he needs these obstacles of your not the guy we want representing our company

it makes his character more engaging

Cena vs Punk can be the rivalry they kept pushing Cena vs Orton as (even though that didn't live up to expectations) and they know it

Cena can see that the WWE badly need new stars and that Punk is their best shot at creating one, and the fact he also brings the best out of Cena makes it a win win for him. If you remember this whole thing started because Cena pushed Vince to put him and Punk in a program.

Yeah, they badly wanted Cena vs Orton to be this gens Austin vs Rock, but they never gelled, only had one really good match I can think of, one of the biggest problems is Randy brings nothing to the table on the mic and thus they were just matches, Cena vs Punk has worked naturally and organic always trumps forced, plus it's a total package rivalry as they can compete on both the mic and in the ring.

basically.....Punk might be a headache, but his ability to bring people in is going to outweigh some hurt feelings

Exactly, the business comes first with Vince and Punk is a good investment even if he will be demanding, much as Austin and HBK were.

I agree. Hopefully they put interesting challenges in his way. They need to progress forward with it steadily instead of letting the whole thing bog down.

Nash can be used as muscle or a mouth for whoever is pulling his strings but if they try to get anything more than one or two matches out of him against Punk it would be a mistake.

Yep. The fact that he lives the gimmick or the gimmick is so close to him has really caused him a lot of problems. I'm not sure where they real guy ends and the gimmick begins anymore.

That's a great point actually, Cena and Orton are like the oriignal T-800's and all the developmental talents that have rolled off the conveyor belt since have been attempted copies, so the two fighting each other lacked any spark.

Austin and Rock are total opposites, much as Cena and Punk are, two are Vince's ultimate idea of what a WWE champ should be and got to the top very quickly as they were hand picked. The other two are blue collar guys who worked their way to the top from nothing, guys Vince doesn't really envision as champions but who create a buzz with the WWE audience that he cannot ignore.
