Things I learned from my movie collection

Let me check.... Yes, I do see quite a few white cases for comedy. Yellow also seems to be another popular color.

Mine taught me that I'm a procrastinator. Nobody should own this many movies they've never seen lol

that most of my collection is still on old VHS tape's, need to get with the time's and update to DVD's

Good lord, man! DVDs are all but obsolete in my collection at this point lol

I'm gradually replacing my favourite DVDs with Blu-Ray. But it is an expensive process, which is why I am doing it slowly and looking out for bargains on the ones I am looking for.

yes, ironically by the time I switch over to all DVD's they probably wont be making DVDs anymore, an I'll have to start all over with whatever the newest thing is

Seconding this. Between that and buying movies I liked but not watching them again for several years.

Also, not from my collection per se, but given the choice between putting on a movie or watching Ghostbusters whenever it is on TV, I will literally always choose Ghostbusters.

Comedies tend to have white packaging.

Holy crap, you're right.

I've got a lot of blues, as well (Anchorman, The Cable Guy, Home Alone 1 & 2, Bruce Almighty, Old School etc).

Yeah, I've going to have to start that up, too. I saw all the X-Men movies going for cheap the other week, but they all had some uniformed special edition packaging... that I know won't match whatever they end up having for DofP and X-M: A. So that put me off. Plus new movies take precedence over the replacements.

 Just skip DVD all together and go into Bluray?

Bluray simply doesn't offer much of an improvement to DVD at least not the way DVD over VHS.

With TV's over 40" the DVD image doesn't hold up. I miss my 40" for this reason.

I didn't mean just in terms of only image quality but also in terms of storage, and the overall experience of watching movies, dividing content into chapters, special features etc. DVDs were a pretty major jump from VHS. Blurays are basically just hi-def DVDs, which is great if you have a system where the difference in resolution matters but overall there's never been that much incentive.

For me also, I watch a lot of movies with my friends and with DVDs I never have to worry when bringing a movie to someone else's house or if I want to lend something to someone. Pretty much everyone has something that plays DVDs, either a dvd player or a computer etc. Bluray players are common enough now but its still a problem we run into. I have friends who will show up to other people's houses with a stack of unplayable blurays no matter how many times we remind them.

The only dvds I have left are from wrestling that may never be rereleased. Also a couple tv series (Muppet show, Dinosaurs,TMNT). If anything my movie collection taught me is that I have a spending problem and probably could of bought a new car instead.

If I own a movie on Blu-ray that's part of a series or franchise, I feel compelled to own the whole series otherwise it feels incomplete, even if I don't like every film in that particular franchise. It's the sad reason why I own X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and The Hangover Part III.

I'm doing the same, which is why I feel like someone punched my in the balls after buying them. You tell yourself the upgrade will make for a better viewing/picture quality and experience, but in the back of your mind; You hate yourself.
