this is an excerpt of an interview with Orci, who's producing Transformers 2 and the new Star Trek:

«Our goal is always to not be arrogant enough to think that you're going to get more than one movie. Make one good movie and if that movie's good, then hopefully you'll get another one. Don't save anything for later. Don't plan on the sequel. That's a mistake. And that's how we approach it. Just make one good movie and god willing, we get to do another one.»

it almost feel like he was addressing Singer. i don't think he was, but it looks like it. I know Singer was under contract to do more than one (right?) but these things can be broken. I just think he could learn from this Orci fellow.

As Spock would say, fascinating, and he's probably right.

And I certainly hope you're right, Evildooer. Knowing Singer, "man of steel" will probably feature the return of General Zod and his sidekicks.

I agree with Orci here, but i dont think he was addressing Singer at all, I think he was talking about his own experiences with some directors who are arrogant enough to automatically think they will get the chance to make a sequel. It was WB that wanted the trilogy, Singer just outlined it to them.
