............yes:huh:

Most ppl don't put that much thought into patriotism. They're just sheep following the flock.

I wouldn't trust anyone who said otherwise. :)

You could say the same thing about people who are ultra-patriotic.
Yeah that was my point. Most patriotic people are sheep.

he writes them like that because it suits the stories he tells....not because he actually believes all cops to be evil and all women to be ****es.

Well wouldn't one call Frank's style noir? part of noir is that all of your characters are portrayed with flaws, worts and all. That includes the protagonist(hence DKR was the birth of "Ahole Batman").

the best way I have heard patriotism described to date...count on a guy like Miller to say it right

nice

Interesting how he said its "perishable". Thats because that old piece of cloth stands for something patriots have to be vigilant in defending. Not just abroad either, but at home too. ;)

isn't he saying the exact same thing that most anyone says about patriotism?
meh, for my money, give me human decency instead of patriotism anyday.
let's promote that little nugget, let's make IT a flag.

patriotism, pffft, nothing stranger that being proud of something you had no role in.

Ah, okay. I thought you were saying the opposite. My mistake.

Personally, my favorite analysis of patriotism comes from George Carlin.

Well, I can't seem to find any but another favorite analysis of patriotism comes from Bill Hicks...

"I hate patriotism. . . I can't stand it, man—makes me ****in' sick. It's a round world last time I checked.

that's kind of flying in the face of the comic he made for the 9-11 relief effort, isn't it?
