Frank Miller prepping 300 Sequel!

People wanted a sequel to The Mask when it came out in 1994, not 2005 with Jamie Kennedy attached and no one from the previous movie (except Ben Stein) had any involvement with the film.

If the 300 sequel comes out in 2018 without a story from Frank Miller and Snyder's involvement, yeah it might tank but if it comes out in 2010 (fitting in with the traditional three year span between movies) and the two of them are on board it should do very well.
2010 sadly no. There is no way that it would come out in 2010 if your read my previous post. Possibly 2012. But besides the date I completly agree with you.

2007

- film Sin City 2
- film The Watchmen
2008
- film The Spirit
- Sin City 2 released
- The Watchmen released
- film Sucker Punch
2009
The Spirit released
- film Sin City 3
- Sucker Punch released
- film 300 spinoff
2010
- Sin City 3 released
- 300 spinoff released

Its taken this long for Sin City 2 to just get into pre-production, SC3 is going to wait. Miller only needs to write a script/graphic novel for a 300 spinoff which could be released at the same time as the film to keep the story secret, Snyder has Watchmen and is committed to Sucker Punch. That will take two years and then he can start work on the 300 spinoff after Miller is done with his two films.

I dunno about this. Frank Miller, as good as a writer he is, has never been very good at coming up with sequels. Was very disappointed in his follow up to the Dark Knight. Sin City was an exemption since that was an anthology series and every story was a stand alone.

Sorry, didn't see the other comment that this was going to be a stand alone story based on Greek myth. Let's hope it stays that way. The further disconnected it is from 300, the better.

I believe this will be another stand alone story. They only say sequel because it would be writen, drawn, and filmed in the same style. It'll take place in the same world as 300. Only Frank knows if it will even feature any of the 3 remaining characters Xerxes, Queen Gorgo, or Dilios. It could very well just be another greek battle that takes place around the same time. If Miller has another great battle story to tell then I'll be glad to see it. It looks like Millers coming to them and not the other way around and that's a big differents. That means he's got something to tell and I trust it'll be one hell of a good story too. Yes I too want him to draw it first, but he doesn't have to release it untill just befor the movie comes out.

Maybe it will be about the Peloppenesian war, 80 years later, where the Spartans actually enlisted the aid of the Persians to help fight against the Athenians. Funny how 80 years later the Persians were their allies.

This idea is seriously doubtful, I am not just talking about movie work. I am also talking about comic book work. He is still working on Holy Terror Batman, He is writing and drawing the new Nancy graphic novel for the story featured in Sin City 2 and he's also writing and drawing another Hartigan story explaining his scar, He's also working on All-Star Batman which only one issue has been released since early 2006, he's most likely going to do something with The Spirit in comics to go with the movie. AND if he gets around the movie and the comics he still has to draw another graphic novel for the 300 spinoff because I will be certainly one of the fans *****ing if the 300 spinoff GN comes out after the movie or the Sin City story for Nancy. Frank has alot to over come. Dont bet on the 300 Spinoff coming out soon. Your dates are if he would to get right into everything right now without him ever getting a breather. Frank will probably take a break sometime in 2008 or 2009 for probably 6 months to a year. Frank is by NO means a workoholic. The guy deserves a break. Every Legend needs to rest.

A 300 sequel could be interesting. I wonder what legend he'd take on? Maybe he would go for something more blatantly mythological - a Frank Miller take on "Clash of the Titans," perhaps?

^^^^ Good I idead but I was thinking the Odyessy. I know Frank would love drawing all the monsters.

Regarding your watchmen quote which isnt true. Miller has nothing to do with Watchmen. You are getting confused with the director of 300 Zack Snyder who will direct Watchmen. People also got Robert Rodriguez confused with directing 300. Huh but no one on the boards so far luckily. Millers movies that he is invole with in the coming years are Sin City 2&3 and The Spirit.
apologies you are right i read it wrong... STUPID ADD:woot:

Even with the fear that all videogame movies suck hard, I would love to see Snyder do somethign similar to God of War games and turn them into good movies.

They'd both work, I think. I cited "Clash of the Titans" specifically because that has the Graeae, Ceto, Pegasus, and the Gorgons, all of which I would really love to see done by Frank Miller. I suppose Miller could also attempt the story of Jason and the Argonauts.

I think the battle of Salamis would be an interesting tale to tell. I mean Frank Miller can do some amazing things on screen with a ground battle, just imagine what he could do with ships! Leonidas was the hero of 300, and you still have a hero in Themistocles. I dunno its just an idea.

It sounds more like a 300 spinoff. But sounds awesome though

yeh, unless its going to be about the battle right at the end of the film with the 10,000 spartans, then the film could be called 10,000 lol

The answer is obvious. How do make a sequel and improve upon a movie full of the baddest warriors and some of the sickest combat scenes when all of them died?

Zombies.

Actually a comic book based on the battle of Issus and Gaugemel (not sure on the spelling here) would be interesting but of course it would be a story about Alexander (which in my book has been done porely in the past) and his defeat of Darius.

I loved 300,but I believe that a sequel would be a bad idea. However if it's Frank and Zack working together again in the same world with the same style but a different story in greek history or mythology then I'm game.
