This is what Man Thing should have looked like...

I don't know about you guys but IMO the look of Man Thing in that TV movie just sucked. It looked nothing like Man Thing.

Anyway I was surfing pics of Man Thing over at Google today and I came across some pics of what I think they should have done for the movie.

This one was a little too realistic, I had to blank out part of it for Hype.

I know what you're thinking, That's not what I blanked out in the pic above. That's just a sculpted muscle on his leg.

The costume was made for a halloween haunted house called "The Haunted Theatre" in Mackinac Island, MI.



In my opinion this is what Man Thing should have looked liked in the movie.

I think Ed Wood should get his camera ready. It looks like a Power Rangers villain


yet somehow still better than the actual movie. It still needs some movie magic to make it look less plastic but at least they got his face right.

Well, it kinda' looks like the Swamp Thing suit in The Return of Swamp Thing and the tv series, which for that time it might have worked. It's a great suit for a haunted house-type spectacle, but for a decent film it would still need a bit more work. I agree, though, it is better than the one in the Man-Thing film.

Oh I agree, It needs some work, But IMO this is a good start.

Kinda like you said some movie magic would go a long ways if they did it right.

I'm like the only fan of the movie...and it's movie version of Man-Thing. Don't get me wrong, the comics from the ones I read are better than the movie, but movie look Man-Thing...I just like it more and more as time goes on now. Looks more scary and as a tree looking thing, he can blend in more. I like it cause it's a entertaining b-movie and DOP is just very good on it and so are the gore/blood effects AND the score.

its the only score I remember out of ANY Marvel movie really...

But yeah, blame the director on this one. He took the script and messed with it...and it looked like Marvel had no control over this one.

And Man-thing wasn't made for tv...it was made for DTV with a chance at theater release...

The overall movie was too cheesy for me to care what the creature looked like; & it's not exactly among my top 10 characters anyway.
