As I was watching the Extended edition last night, I saw the scene where there's a show for Alicia's sculptures, and there were a bunch of Things with the brow, and it pissed me off they couldn't give him that brow, Story said it wouldn't have looked right, but, NO, it would have looked Right! It is a big part of his look, and the way he looks in the film is not right. I don't care what anyone says, The Brow makes the man. The Thing in the movie just doesn't look like the Thing, there's something that rubs me the wrong way and the brow is part of it, the other thing is the way Chiklis plays him, I don't think he gets it.There are a few elements missing. Then there's Alicia who is totally wrong, could someone please hold up a comic book to these peoples faces and say, See, She is white!!! Son of a gun, c'mon now, that is enough of those dumb changes, get the character right, don't change the race just to do it. Get over it and don't use any lame, weak excuses. She's white so get over it. What did the director have to change her just 'cause he's black. and if they put all those statues in there with then they should have just put the brow on Ben!

The race of Alicia is not important to her character. I could see if she was like the Black Panther and it was completely necessary for her to be white, but it's not. As long as they got her character right, that is all the matters.

Word is, one of the suits thought the brow made Ben look "like a caveman." Thus , no brow.

And they should have left the whole gallery scene in the movie. The line "The eyebrows are a little big" could have been the FF's "Were you expecting yellow spandex?" line to wink at the fans.

The Brow makes the man....lol

And we all know that in Daredevil, MSJ made Kingpin black because he is too, right?

From what I read there was no brow simply because it obscured Chiklis' eyes too much.

To be honest, I'm not too bothered about the Thing's brow, I thought the costume was good enough. I wasn't too concerned that he didn't look like he does in the image below, with a larger brow, smaller nose and wider mouth, which seems to be how many fans want him to look.

I think Michael Chiklis nailed the character of Ben Grimm in his performance and that's all that matters in my opinion.

Yeah, weird how they wanted him to look like the Thing. :whatever:

Yeah it is important, she is white, that is her, she has been white for decades, that is who and what she is! There is no need to change the race!

Yeah just keep making fun of the stuff, no respect at all, that is enough!

He has a big brow, he looks that way, he doesn't look like a cave man, the movie thing would have just looked like The Thing.

I think Chiklis is the rock (no pun intended) of the movie. He does a great job. I do however think there is so much expression and chance to make a character of instant cinematic history when you adhere to the source material closer.
