I'm a fan of the old style speech. I also want to see Pom smack Hemsworth around like Mantis did Thor back in the day.

Excited for Mantis, but I do hope they emphasize her telapathic abilities so she doesn't become yet another hand-to-hand combatant in the MCU.

I assume so. James Gunn seemed very keen on the idea of the "Earthling out in deep space" being Starlord's thing, at least in these films. It's why Drax is apparently also an alien in the MCU (as opposed to the comics where he's from Earth).

I was kind of hoping for Moondragon myself (it would also give Drax a chance for more character development), but Mantis is cool enough I guess.

They made it sound as if Drax will discover his daughter is alive in this film.

The theme is about fathers after all.

I don't know why people keep suggesting Mantis being in means Moondragon can't possibly appear. He said we'd have at least one new character but I assumed he was talking about the Guardians. I really doubt the entire film is going to be the exact same cast from the original except Pom (and in fact the news they were looking at a new actor for the lead villain proves Mantis is not the only new character).

imso not familiarwith this character eventhough she had so much todo with all the stories they are basing of for the mcu...on a side note.thats what i found on her wki page: * Can travel through space to new plant bodies. If killed, she can rebirth herself in a new plant body. does that mean she want's the groot?

I never quite understood how and when Mantis got green skin.

They may make her fully alien for GOTG, as they did with Drax (so far). They never gave her normal name in the comics. It could be Mandy Brandt or Celeste Brandt or something. Gustav Brandt, aka Libra, is her father.

Interesting tidbit: She was romantically involved with the Vision for a little bit in the AVENGERS: CELESTIAL QUEST miniseries from 2001.

I imagine they will make her an alien. Personally I want the bat **** crazy version from the more recent GOTG comics. She was hilarious in that, as well as being a bad ass but she was also a character you cared for.

That's why I hope Gunn really does something unique with her rather than just making her another stern Alien woman with great H2H skills.
