Thompson makes it offical - He is running for president

I'm not sure he can win. He just seems like the new Bob Dole to me.

Yeah, except Dole was old and senile. Thompson really seems to know what he's talking about. He has my support.

I think the most dangerous thing about him is that people have seen him on TV/Movies acting like a president and they will assume he can do the job for real. Need any further proof?

We elected Reagan, for Zod's sake.

Well, Thompson's platforms are a HELL of a lot like Bush's. Only he's really doesn't come off as that "good ol' boy, let's sit down and have a beer and B.S." kind of guy that Bush has worked so hard to cultivate despite his blue-blood roots. In fact, Thompson kind of comes off as an a-hole, to be honest. I think people are tired of anything remotely resembling the Bush administration including their policies, to be honest. I think all he's going to wind up doing is pulling a giant Perot in the Republican party, dividing it even further and making it really hard for the GOP to get any traction whatsoever against the Dem's.

politics make me sick.....but i was a huge bush supporter both terms.....(dont kill me)

Anyone know if the guy has a site for his platforms?

My gut tells me that the only reason this guy has some credit for the Republican party is because he is an actor like Ronald Regan.

I've said that exact same thing months ago and got poo-pooed for it. I am glad to see that I'm not the only one who is able to see this. The CMM(Clinton Media Machine) has been prompting Fred Thompson for a while hoping he would win the Republican nomination which in turn would be an easy victory for Hillary in the General Election. That was the only way Liberals favorite Pres, Bill Clinton won the 92 Election. In a head to head with Bush Sr., Bill would have gotten his ass whip. They are pulling out the same bag of tricks, because Hillary know she cannot win against Rudy G.

I honestly don't think Rudy is electable. Too much dirt on the guy and his views on things like gay marriage and abortion polarize the Republican voter-base. Plus, he's a one-trick pony who clings only to his 9-11 glory and now the NYC firefighters and police unions have come out in full force against the guy. I don't see him winning if the gets the nomination.

I respect your opinion, but the fact of the matter is... he's the front runner amongst Republican since the beginning and will be in the end. In a General Election with Hillary, he will gavinize his base, undecided, moderates, independents, the Hate Hillary crowd, and The entire Republican Party which consist of a little of all of the previous mention.

As far as the Firefighters/Police Union, I respectfully disagree with you. There is only a few that express their displeasure with him and the CMM is using that fact to make it appear it's the majority of the Union Members against him. The fact is most members in both Union has express their displeasure with Union heads, using their money and platform against Rudy. I'm sad to say but Rudy G is going to be the next President of the United States.

Yeah, I still don't think he's electable. I'm not convinced Hillary's going to get the nomination, either. I don't think Obama is out of the running where that's concerned. Still too early to tell. Gonna be a weird year leading up to the election, no doubt. Still a lot to shake out before we get there.

i thought it was jack thompson when i first read the title, i shuddered

I agree with some of Thompson's views and he comes off a lot more intelligent than Bush does when he explains his beliefs, but I don't want this man to get the Republican nomination.

I agree, he just comes off as so spuerior and mean. The trophy wife, cuban cigars in his office, appearing on Roseanne. Linked strongly to campaign finance reform, was there any? But these days who knows, it is still such a long road.

Honestly, I think the whole back-and-forth of whether or not he was going to run has hurt to the point where he has kinda become a joke. Plus, the fact that he is entering the race so late hurts him as well. He really should've jumped in back in June. It is still possible that he may win the Republican nomination, but I wouldn't place my bets on it. I think Romney or Huckabee will probably get it.

Yeah, he can read his lines much better.
Think how much more believable he would be saying he cried talking with God.

I doubt Romney will get it. He's been getting the most money, but nobody knows who the hell he is. McCain is finished. Nobody knows who the hell Huckabee, Hunter, Tancredo, and Paul are.

I think the only ones who have a chance are Giuliani and Thompson.

You guys know that Thompson's against separation of Church and State right?
