The movie has plenty of time to finish still guys. I don't know why everyone is saying it will get delayed. They have almost a year and a half, and they have a director and I'm sure are working on all the pre-production stuff now on top of casting.

I think it will be fine guys.

Kevin McKidd, who currently stars on "Grey's Anatomy," told IGN that he's still a contender for the lead role in Marvel Studios' Thor.

The actor, most known for "Journeyman" and "Rome," says there's been "a lot of back and forth" but that nothing has been determined. He acknowledged that Kenneth Branagh is directing it, a choice that makes him even more excited about the film.

Marvel Studios is targeting a July 16, 2010 release for Thor.

I'd hate it if they made this movie with Ultimate Thor in mind. It needs to be epic in scope and introduce all the Asgardian lore and cast of characters. This movie needs to be fantasy based imo.

I think that Thor casting call report assumed that anyone who didn't fit the description was pretty much out of the running instead of getting actual confirmation. I think is can still be an older actor without a doubt.

Ugh. no thanks. If this is a Thor film, I want it to be a THOR film. Not the *****fied "we're embarassed to actually be using Thor" Thor of the Ultimate world.

I catch your drift, and your drift is wrong. All you have to do is read that casting call to tell that Branagh and co have kept - at the very least - the basic outline from the Protosevich draft.

Sorry but I'm not really good at reading drafts but I know that Marvel is havin problems matching Thor up in the "real" world of IM. *sigh* Do you guys remember in Hulk where he was roaring at the lightening and even threw a rock? Wouldn't it be wonderful if it was hinted that it was Thor that he saw and was provoking? I had a geekasm when I thought about it when I watched the movie.

Marvel has FINALLY "officially" confirmed Branagh's involvement. If only took them, what, 5 months?

Can't wait for "Thor" and "Iron Man 2?" Neither can we! So how about a little update on each—direct from Marvel Studios!

Kenneth Branagh is set to direct Marvel Studios' "Thor" which Paramount Pictures will distribute worldwide. The film will come to theatres domestically on July 16, 2010.

"Iron Man 2"
"Iron Man 2" will begin principal photography in early April starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle and directed by Jon Favreau.

Thor will destroy a generic Nolan sci-fi flick. Even if it's a good film (I'm thinking Serenity meets The Prestige) it still won't draw in general audiences. The Prestige was an October release but the Nolan/Bale/Jackman draw didn't generate any box office. TDK has NO effect here, unless Heath Ledger is resurrected to star in the sc-fi flick.

on a side note I hate this term....no one but fans use it....the writers and editorial staff don't even use it....regular universe/ultimate universe...not hard to say

I wouldn't mind either hammer but the traditional axe would probably be easier to work with from a marketing/merchandise standpoint
