Which wasn't that bad and actually was an improvement on it's predecessor. But again, it was Spielberg's franchise not Johnston's. I tend to think many directors don't like coming in with established canon already being against them.

Well, let's be fair: Jurassic Park III.
A well-directed film that suffers mostly because it didn't need to be made in the first place. It's a tough act following Spielberg.

Well I've been enjoying muting the sound on the trailer and playing this* over it. I gotta say, at points the music & the visuals give me goosebumps...and I'm not even a Thor fan.

Works well with this one too:

Interesting, so far it´s getting more positive ratings than the GL one, I suppose it´s the more solemn, no-nonsense tone.

I knew I'd heard that one used before in different fan edited videos and it's a pretty sweet piece of music, especially the middle part. But I think I'd be kinda lost on just where to sync it up with the Thor trailer. With the one I posted, the last beat of the music should ideally coincide with Thor triking the ground at the end of the trailer. Basically just start playing the trailer at 00:21 and the music at 00:00 and they both match up at the end. Thanks Wobbly.

The visuals of Asgard were eye popping, but I got no sense of a story. For a 2:30 minute trailer I really expected much more than what I saw.

I hope that Thor shows off incredible strength in this movie. He should come off as powerful as the Hulk at least if not more powerful.

you can always watch the 5 minute cc trailer that tells you the whole movie

Yeah, when I played it over the muted trailer I had to skip to get the middle up-tempo part to match up with the action sequences. It also drifts off at the end and it'd be better to end on a big 'crecendo' for a trailer. Something along these lines or in the one you posted would make for a neat score though :yay::up:

It probably also helps that the one I posted is in itself already shorter than the entire trailer. I just love all this mixing and matching, don't you?

I do too, that one shot with the Hammer slam was at the Frost giants land.

JP3 wasn't that bad

Honestly for me, JP1 and JP3 are pretty neck-and-neck tied for entertainment purposes. Lost World's a distant... distant third.

Also, I'm really surprised at the "cheesy" criticism of the trailer. There was nothing in it that made me think it was cheesy at all. I showed it to my husband, who has practically zero knowledge of Thor from the comics and he thought it looked pretty epic.

I hope people aren't expecting LOTR or something. This seems not only like it's going to be a fun-as-hell movie but something that tries to hew close to the source material.

Not had a chance to try it yet myself.

Gotta love the haters. You'll be disappointed by the Captain America trailer too, so don't worry. If Thor throwing his hammer into someone's face isn't enough for you, what exactly will do it then? I don't understand you guys.

Haters? I didn't know stating an opinion that disagreed with your's was a form of hating or trolling. Good to know. :whatever:

I'm not a big Thor fan (never bought a comic before), but I was hoping for a trailer for the movie to leave a fantastic impression of an epic fantasy. I hadn't read LOTR or Harry Potter when the movies first started (that changed before I saw the second installment of either), but the trailers were full of wonder and majesty for both. Rock music and beating up Feds in '80s action-movie style did not give me that impression.

It could be great. I think Branagh is a great director most of the time (Much Ado About Nothing, Henry V, Hamlet--though not my favorite film rendition of that play--I even kind of liked his Sleuth remake). And I like the cast of this movie (Hopkins and Portman) is a good thing.

But the trailer focused on the hardest part of this premise...a Nordic god coming between his magical realm and New Mexico. The trailer did not knock my socks off but left me wondering if they can pull off such a shocking culture clash.

But I apologize I didn't go..."hammer?! That is teh coolest!" I am sorry.

I love how they show his fighting skills too. Thor has thousands of years of battle experience. But getting the comic writers to show him as more than a bludgeoning brawler is a battle itself at times.

Yuppers, and if they do come face to face in the Avengers, Thor should appear to have the upper hand in terms of streangth at first.

But the angrier the Hulk gets.... the more Thor is put on his guard as to just how dangerous the green behemoth really is.

Like say Thors first shot is round house hammer to the face... which takes the Hulk down.

Then halfway through the fight as the Hulk is increasingly more pissed, he take an upper cut and while clearly it snaps his head back... he is less and less affected.

Which would really BRING Thor into the Avengers...seeing he can't do certain things all by himself...even on Earth.

Pretty cool trailer with highlights being Asgard, The Destroyer and Thor pulverizing the ground with Mljonir.:wow:

Minor gripes for me were the quick 'And 2D in Select Theaters' annoucement (sad that it has come to that), rock music which seemed unfitting with some of the epic looking imagery. Also, i would have liked a bit more dialogue and a shot of Thor flying. But all in all i think this trailer sells the idea of what people can expect in a Thor movie.

volstagg - 'sound the alarm here come the frost giants!!'

thor - 'giants? they be bearly 7 foot tall!'

volstagg - 'shut up and sound the alarm!!'
