do you mean that you like this genre in general but like Cap more than Thor? I look forward to both films as I am a big Avengers fan and love the big 3 of the Avengers (Cap, Thor, and Iron Man) . I look forward to both films and want both films to do really well at the B.O. One problem for Cap is that film will have to deal with the last Harry Potter film. I may enjoy Cap more because Captain America is my favorite superhero. Thor is a close second and looks killer so far.

Thor's my favorite superhero so naturally I can't wait to see him hit the big screen. Captain America looks good too even tho I'm lookin forward to seeing Green Lantern more becuase he has "powers".

I consider characters like Batman and Captain America "heroes" not "superheroes" because they don't have any powers. They're still both good characters but they're not "actually" superheroes.

Captain America's a superhero. His power is achieving the peak of human potential at everything. He is simultaneously as fast, as strong, and as everything else that the human body possibly can be, which would be physically impossible for any normal person to achieve, so I consider it a superpower.

I've never bought into the argument that guys like Batman and Cap aren't superheroes.

Being effective to the degree Batman has been makes him a superhero in my book. His accomplishments would be pretty impressive even if he did have powers.

Agreed. I don't know why there are a number of people who won't acknowledge that and how Captain America is actually a superhero in a non really typical fashion.

You all are misunderstanding me, I don't have anything against them I just think of characters with "powers" when I think of "superheroes". Im not saying they aren't effective because they clearly are.

I think of characters with peak human conditioning as just that..."humans"

Its just the definition of words.

Human, Super-human, Meta-human, Hero, Super-Hero, etc.

Most are "Heroes" or "Super Heroes". Not all are "Super-Human" though.

I think it's scale, really. A cop or a fireman is a hero. You start saving entire cities, countries, and the entire planet, you bet your ass you're some kind of SUPERhero. Otherwise Batman would just be a neighborhood vigilante.

Yeah thanks, this is a better way of saying what I said

Also very true

I consider Cap superhuman. His abilities are unattainable and impossible by any other human.

I consider Batman the same way. There's no way that he can defeat supervillains with gadgets and martial arts alone; he's definitely a SUPERhero.

Plus it would be impossible to master 127 martial arts in a human lifespan. That makes him superhuman by definition.

The trailer looked impressive, it's good that they're balancing between Earth and wherever the hell Thor is from so the audience won't get bored.

By that definitions Jet Li is super human. ANd I beleive he is the closest thing to a Captain America the world has.

Just how many martial arts has Jet Li mastered? Not just practiced, but mastered. Able to run your own school kind of mastered. Most people are lucky to do that with one martial art in their entire life.

The fact that comic book writers state things like "mastered every martial art known to man" just shows their lack of knowledge on the subject. Similar to Stan Lee throwing any kind of radiation at a person to produce a hero, without even knowing what it is (he admitted he had no idea what gamma radiation actually does).

It's all about suspension of disbelief. Batman mastering all those martial arts, the fact that it's impossible alone, is part of what makes him superhuman. That suspension of disbelief that is required for the character to work. The fact that he accomplishes and has accomplished all these feats that no mortal man on this entire planet can.

Batman is not "superhuman". Nor is Punisher. Thats okay though, thats what makes them awesome.

We can argue over what "powers" mean, but its obvious to most of us that Batman has none. He's just that damn good (and rich).

Hes an expert martial artist, among the best in the world. It should be left at that.

Batman's superhero status mostly comes from his willpower and his intellect/cunning. He is basically what a mad scientist gone good would be.

I've never really been comfortable with Batman as a scientist, actually. I prefer to see him be a phenomenal detective and virtually a living encyclopedia of facts, but not so much a practicing astrophysicist or chemist or whatever. I like it when he farms that work out to Mr. Terrific and the Atom or covertly to Wayne Enterprises.

Yeah, but every writer always makes sure to provide the nod that he could somehow easily do all that **** himself. :o

True. It just never sat well with me. I guess I have a problem with Batman being the best at literally everything.

Yea, kind of stupid. I guess he is so popular they just had to keep ramping him up and up in ability.

He's a sherlock holmes/james bond combo. I can see him knowing a little of everything (Mcgyver style) but to say he has mastered every martial arts known to man and every scientific discipline as well is pretty ridiculous.
