Thoughts on The Green Hornet after an early screening... - JoBlow.com

And should we be surprised? Nada. This thing is DOA.

Forget this movie. Watch the serial and read the 90's comics instead.

please, you act like the original was some masterpiece or something. only cool thing about it was kato, which seems to be the case here.

I wasn't impressed at all by the "Kato vision" I saw in the trailer....so it's good to hear that it won't be used much in the movie. But that fact still won't make me run and see it. I've been a Greeb Hornet fan since the 60's.....but this movie looks all kinds of bad to me.

After nearly 45 years, we are finally seeing a profitable film industry and real respect for the hero genre. And these guys want to take it back to camp? Someone please water board the makers of this film. They deserve to lose their shirts on this project. Who makes a parody in the golden age of superhero films? Talk about missing the mark...

What is interesting is anyone that doesn't like the film will quickly be labeled a whiney fan boy. Which is an unsair sterotype. Look at it this way if they did it to a character you loved, you'd be the whiney fan boy.

I agree with the sentiment that it disrespects the source material. You can add comedy to a film with out your hero being a bumbling fool. I knew the move was doomed when it was written by Rogen and directed by a guy that's never done an action film before.

Also if they wanted to do a comedy superhero movie it's already been done.
Mystery Men and Superhero movie.

It makes me wonder if the golden age of Superhero movies is comming to a close. We might be getting to the point where too many studios and what not are going to jump on the band wagon just to make a buck. We will see.

I don't think people will label others (who doesn't like this movie) as whiney fan boys. Unless you haven't seen the movie.

I think there is an unfortunate spin put on camp which makes people think either Batman and Robin and the 60's Batman.

Of course, I was never a huge fan of The Green Hornet. Not that I didn't like it, just never really watched it.

I can see why some would want a more serious treatment, a more crime drama focus, but that doesn't mean that a humorous buddy cop type approach wouldn't be great too.

I have been hearing plenty suggesting just this.

We will see.

Its been a while since we had a complete and utter lack of anticipation for a superhero movie...

Mostly though I blame it on the character - I mean, there is only so much one can do with the Green Hornet without changing him into something completely different - He's essentially Batman without all the fun.

As someone said above - this is DOA.

I saw the movie last night. It was entertaining without it being that great. There were some very funny moments and some good action scenes but this movie did remind me of something. I never really liked the show the Green Hornet and only watched it for Bruce Lee. Now, don't get me wrong Jay Chou is fantastic in the role but the character is somewhat misconcieved in my opinion. Why in the hell would a genius such as Kato not branch out on his own and become a billionaire through his inventions is beyond me.

In addition, let me state that I saw it in 3D and the one thing I will say about that is the best part was the Credits. For the rest, it was not really necessary.

I give this movie a 6/10 and would recommend seeing it if you are someone who likes these types of movies such as I am.

So,
does Chudnofsky have anything to do with James Reid's death?

Midnight showings lame... Barely carved out $500,000. Translation: No "blockbuster" here...

...and this means what to you, exactly? To paraphrase James Reid, this gives you a sense of fulfilment?
