THQ going under?

Well, that's good to hear. I so wasn't happy with Sega acquiring Relic before. But if they are seriously good in the RTS market, I'm glad.

And still no word on the fate of Darksiders?

THQ Was Its Own Worst Enemy, Former Chief Says

On one hand Jason Rubin, the final president of now-defunct THQ, isn't making excuses for the publisher's failure. Asked by MCV if the industry pains squeezing out mid-tier publishers are what sank the company, Rubin said no, THQ created a lot of its own problems.

"THQ had every chance to survive had it not made massive mistakes," Rubin added. Mistakes that were made "long before I joined."

It may sound self-serving but Rubin is totally right. Danny Bilson was in charge when THQ was throwing good money after bad on things like uDraw and kiddie titles, and when Bilson was fired in May, few tears were shed for him in his own company.

Rubin's blunt about the failures, citing:

the incredible losses attached to uDraw, massive wasted capital in the unpublished MMO that was cancelled, sticking with children's and casual titles far after mobile and tablets had killed the business, bad, late, or otherwise inferior titles like Homefront, and a generally haphazard and inefficient approach to deal making, left the company with too much negative hanging on its books.

As for Homefront, Rubin wouldn't attribute its flop to bad luck or to an audience that just didn't warm up to the game. And Homefront was a Bilson favorite, too.

MCV's postmortem on THQ goes into a lot more detail about the firm's demise and its sale, including the general surprise that neither Electronic Arts nor Warner Bros. showed up to bid on any of THQ's studios or assets. There's also an explanation for why Koch Media paid $22.3 million for Volition, Inc. and Saints Row when the backup bid by Ubisoft was only $5.4 million.

But there's nothing about the fate of WWE, of course. Probably with publicly traded companies and contracts involved, no one is answering any questions about that deal—with $45 million left on it—until a new owner is found, which is rumored to be Take-Two Interactive, publisher of 2K Sports.

And still no word on the fate of Darksiders?

I'm pretty sure it's being auctioned off at the legacy IP auction.

Also I'm really glad Sega got the 40K license with Relic, as well as Dark Millennium. I'm curious to see what becomes of that project.

Sega has actually been doing pretty well in the niche PC market with The Creative Assembly's Total War series and Sports Interactive's Football Manager series. Acquiring Relic Entertainment and the Warhammer 40k license fits really well with what Sega has been doing. Sega Wow's Valkyria Chronicles series and Ryū ga Gotoku Studio's Yakuza series also have very high receptions.

The problem with Sega though is that while it's niche titles are excellent, the games that made the company big like Sonic, NiGHTS, Shinobi, Phantasy Star, and Golden Axe haven't been up to par.
I had no idea Sega were linked with all of those top names.

Vigil really would be a goldmine for a company that wanted to snap it up, The Darksiders franchise could really be expanded on a lot.

While that all true, it looks like Darksiders is dead with out Vigil. Even if platinum gets the rights, with out the actual creators it won't be what it was supposed to be.

Regardless, Vigil is a very talented group of developers and I look forward to seeing whatever they work on next.

I still would have like to have what project crawler was though. They are very talented. So I'm sure they will help push crytek to a cool new level.

Take-Two has taken over the WWE license from THQ and will have Japanese developer Yukes developing it. Take-Two will also hire former THQ employees involved with the WWE games.

Crytek USA, the studio made up of former Vigil developers has tweeted that Crytek is looking into buying the Darksiders lot of games to bring the series back to its creators.

The auction for THQ's remaining properties has ended. Winning bidders have not been revealed yet.

- Paradox Interactive and Stardock attempted bids for the Homeworld IP but failed. Indie developer TeamPixel started a Kickstarter to raise funds to buy the IP, but they also lost in the bidding, contributors will be refunded.

- The auction is expected to have raised up to $6 to $7 million.

- A holding company for water and solvent inks has acquired the IP and website of Blue Tongue Studios, the developer of de Blob for $15,000.

- Nordic Games has acquired the IPs to Darksiders, Red Faction, MX vs. ATV, Destroy All Humans, uDraw and all other owned IPs and licensed software of THQ.

- 505 Games has acquired the Drawn to Life IP

yeah I read up on it on another site. So that means the former Dev's that are now apart of crytek USA won't be finishing up what they had planned, Unless they are hired as a dev team by Nordic some how right?

At least we may get a third Darksiders.

that all depends though . on if if the original creators will have some input on finishing it or not . Or if done by some one else will the Execution be what fans of the franchise be satisfied with. Cause if done poorly that won't mean much. We'll have to wait and see.

my Reaction who  if any one has information about this company please Share

Nordic Games is publisher of games like Painkiller HD, Singstar, Book of Unwritten Tales and more they're another mid level publisher that has done ok for them selves. We'll have to see what happens with this though.

Here's what they had to say

Since Nordic is a publisher, they're probably going to license Darksiders out to a developer. And Crytek is a developer so there's a chance they could work on Darksiders in this capacity.

Someone do correct me if I'm wrong, though.

crytek USA's head that aquired the dev's will have to say he's ok with that then. He was willing to buy darksiders of resent, we'll have to see if he let's the former dev's of vigil work on it for Nordic to finish their work. It can only benefit both publishers if done right and allowed .
