I'll repeat though:
ellis is being criticised for not achieving something he's not trying to achieve.

Until people criticise on the basis of the books merit (positive/negative) or acknowledge that not being able to get over the characters different personalities (from past appearances) is their thing and not the books then they simply aren't getting it, they are simply creating their own self fufilling argument.

Anyhoo I'm derailing the thread so unless anything of actual relevance (rather than the self importance of comic-dom) comes up I'm done.

My rebuttal to the whole Nextwave debate....

Nextwave sucks... period. Even if I were to ignore the out of character characters, it just wasn't funny or interesting. I was bored through each issue I read. It just sucked. (and yes, I got all the mockery and rubs of other comic characters and ideas... they just didn't do anything for me)

"Come X-bait, helpe me with my gun" or something of that nature.... dumb and unfunny.

It's brit humor...you either get it or you don't. I never rag on people who don't like Brit humor, because I see where they are coming from. It's absurdism.

Absurdism never stopped monty python from developing a MASSIVE following in the states...

The problem with nextwave is that it trys too hard. I love ellis's other stuff but this book is just a brightly coloured turd

I officially hate Thunderbolts Starting with issue 111.

Without Spoiling it:

The person in Charge by no means should be in charge.

The person in charge on the field is in no way as stupid as depicted.

The flavor and the way they were treated and seen by the world even DURING civil war doesn't warrant how they are treated now.

One character was SO FAR out of character as far as how easy she was taken out after fighting for YEARS as both a villian and a hero.

Another character had DECIDED to stay at the end of the last run is now depicted as having no choice,..


And SPEEDBALL?????

That's two of us,... Thunderbolts was shaping up to be the clearing house of borderline Supervillians who were waffling on the dark side.

If I were a thunderbolt I would've just said Renege on your clemency given to me a couple of years ago and just throw me in jail,... I'm not working for you.

I used to love this team and the changes they went thru,...
Now I'm hating it because MOST reasonable people in Songbirds position for example would've said:
"All that I went thru to get here? Why bother being a hero?"
